I have the same noise - it's just a poor design for the rear seat recliners with no way to fix it that I can see. Frustrating, because there are so many other things I'd rather have had than reclining rear seats, which will literally never be used. Lights in the cargo area, a rear wiper that makes a full arc, etc - things that were dropped in the 5th gen but that would get used and appreciated quite a bit more than reclining rear seats, and probably cost less to include.
It would be interesting to do a survey to see how many people have used the reclining rear seat function - my guess is a lot of folks probably don't even know its there.

LOL......only time I've been in the rear compartment was when installing my audio !!!
I'll have to check and see if there's a fix because it's driving me crazy !!!

yup mine rattles too. Drives me nuts, until i put a kid seat in that spot and snugged it up against the back real tight. maybe if you leave it reclined it would rattle less.

we have the rattle too, and i'm not really impressed with the amount of play in the latch point...the rattle is almost constant now, increasing to the point where it is audible even with a person in the rear seat.
we do use the reclining seats a lot, but the latch mechanism could be better

FJ had the same issue. Some electrical tape wrapped around the latch fixed it in the FJ.
Passenger side front seat
I have a 2013 SR5 with a rattle coming from the front passenger seat. I was able to isolate the location and looking for help on any possible fixes to the problem. I'm okay with taking to the dealership but would rather take care of it myself if anyone had a similar problem and was able to fix.

Yup, ‘16 TRDP. Drives me nuts. Took it to the dealer... couldn’t hear it or my suspension squeak.

Why not just use some plastic spiral hose guard?
