So I was thinking about the many cars of my history and the list is pretty scary. I got my learners permit in 81 and my license in 82. Here is a list of the beauts that have gotten around in my life, pretty much in the order I owned then. (some of these are downright embarrassing :twitch: )

1. 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Diesel (Paid cash and kept this thing for 10 years and put over 220k miles on it. I miss this truck)

3. 2011 Ford F250 Lariat FX4 Diesel (sold the previous two paid for vehicles for a $20k loan on this one)
4. 2012 Ford F150 FX2 Ecoboost (sold the f250 for this truck and a $15k note only 9 months later)
5. 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega cab 4x4 Diesel (sold the F150 for this truck and a $15k note only 1 year later)

My first one was a 1935 Dodge Panel Delivery - The term SUV hadn't been invented yet.. I paid $35 for it - insurance was about $50 per year - gas was about 12 cents per gallon.

It had a 6 cylinder flat-head; a 4 speed manual (no synchro-mesh); no radio; no heater; everything on it was manual. There was a crank to open the windshield. I ran 6.75 x 16 - 10 ply nylon cord mud terrain tires. It got about 12 mpg on a good day (driving to school) - about 6 mpg off-road generally around the Wyandotte, Banger, Rackerby, Brownsville, LaPorte area of northern California. Since it was two wheel drive I got stuck a lot - ALWAYS carried shovel, axe, hand winch and a couple of spare tires..... When you learn to off-road in something like that, doing it in a modern Chevy Silverado, Subaru Outback, Land Rover Discovery or Toyota 4Runner is really easy....
