It was your 4runner that made me start liking the color. My girlfriend saw the pics of our Hollister trip and said she liked your 4runner. I was hoping because of the bumpers, tires, lift ect., but of course she didn't notice any of those things. She just liked the color. Women...
I actually say you yesterday driving up Camino Tassajara in Danville. I was a few cars back from you. I bought my 4runner from a guy up there. Pretty random.
now i am even happier to be getting my lift off a fellow cowboys fan !
as for the color i really like that red, how about changing that tan on the bottom to black and i think with dark wheels and a hint of red in them like someones i have seen on here i think it would look so sick. plus if you got the general grabbers w the red letters, or just painted whatever letters you have red

Sweet runner man, glad you finally found it! I wish I had your patience when it came to buying mine. Was wanting the sport exterior when I got it and now I wish I would have gone with a limited for the interior. It's a lot easier to paint some trim and add a scooped hood then switching the whole interior!

Just want to say thanks everyone for the kind words. I felt like the little brother that wanted to hang out with his older brother and his friends. I have a million mods I want to start, but it will go slow. Transmission cooler is in the mail and I'm going to plasti dip the badges tomorrow to see how I like them black.
I think I will go for the all red when I get to that point, but I want to get my sport hood painted soon. Going to get some quotes tomorrow. Drives me crazy because every time I look at it, I just want to lift it. In due time.
The transition from a 2nd gen to 3rd gen is night and day. I have to try not to go over 70 when I was trying to stay above 60 in my 2nd gen.

I finally found my 3rd gen!arty:
After 4 months of searching for the right 4runner, my search has come to an end. I just purchased a 2000 Limited, 4wd, LOCKER, 102k, one owner and in sexy sunfire red pearl. It was $8500, which was the top of my budget, but it was worth it.
I only got to drive it home and take one picture of it before my girlfriend handed me the baby and took the keys to meet one of her friends.
My mods will be simple at first remove the running boards, DDM tuning lights, black emblems and t4r sticker. Eventually I want to put 881/906's, 265/75 Duratracs, paint the bumpers and cladding either black, gunmetal or red (any suggestions?), paint my wheels maybe gunmetal and other simple mods.
DAMN! If you hadn't bought it, I would have. That's a sweet find man. And $8500 isn't bad at all. I think it's better to stretch the budget and get what you really want, that way you have a better platform to start with and no regrets.
Watch out letting the girlfriend drive it too much. I won't let my wife get anywhere near my '01, except in the passenger seat. She had a cherry '98, a beautiful truck, that was involved in a accident she could have avoided. Your g/f might be a stellar driver, I'm just sayin'.... you don't want to have to look around for another 4 months.
The mod list sounds good... can't wait to see the changes.
Also, don't do this. Unless you really like the look and don't mind being 4runit's twin. I don't know which way to go on the color, I think both would look good (monochrome vs two-tone).

Haha thanks man. Yeah it is a good price for the Bay Area and is super clean. I'm really happy that I waited and found one that I really wanted. I'm ok with the price, but the guy put down the full price, so I'm stuck paying 900 in taxes. That really sucks.
I know what you mean about my girlfriend taking the 4runner out. She is a good driver, but you never know. With my 95 she never wanted to drive it, but now I'll have to fight her for it.
I'm not sure what I will end with for the trim, but it won't change for a long time. I might try to incorporate some of the topaz color into a rim design. Maybe around the lip like LINY has. I'm still playing with the idea, but I want to get the sport hood painted and on.
Unfortunately my girlfriend came outside today while I was plasti dipping my emblems and said no black rims for 6 months and I can't take off the running boards. I will work on that in the next week or so. But I did pick up a deck plate and my breather material, so that will go in this week as well as a DDM Tuning kit from Scotty. I need to find the pipe for the ISR as well.

I know what you're talking about w/the title. Here in NM, you used to be able to write in whatever you wanted, even $50, and you only had to pay taxes on the amount written on the title. They got smart to that though, and now they charge you taxes on the low end blue book value, or the price written on the title, whichever is more.
The only solution to the girlfriend or wife snatching your 'Runner is to buy her her own. After I got my '97 my wife wanted to drive mine all the time, so we got her the '98... she wrecked that one, so we got her a 2000. So far, so good. Now she wants to drive my '01, so I might have to mod her '00 a little bit to keep her happy.
Once she has her own, you can go nuts with yours. BTW, if you need the measurements for the ISR pipe, they are in my build, page 6 I think.

Yeah it is seriously cutting into any mod money but nothing I can do.
My girlfriend came up to me today and said she wants my 4runner. She wants one but she likes her jeep. I hate the jeep but right now se can't afford another car. Soon I will try to sell her jeep and get her in a 4runner. Then I can mod mine all I want and she can be in a real suv.
I also just talked to her about buying her friends 00 Millenium Silver Limited with a locker this summer. I was going to just wait for that one because it only has 82k and in really good condition, but this one came up. Plus she wanted 9ish and the TB needed to be done soon. Well my girlfriend laughed at me, thinking us owning the same 4runner be too dorky. I will work on her about it, but she said if she buys another car it will be a prius. At least she stays Toyota, but I don't want to drive that thing. (No offense to anyone driving a Prius, I just hate cars.)

I lucked out big time by responding to the ad right away and not hesitating this time. I'm so pumped and the first mod I'm going to do is put my daughters car seat base in.:

That's an awesome deal! Nice find. I love that toyotas keep their value over 100k miles, it seems that nowadays other vehicles are on the way to the junk yard by this time. Again, congrats, I know you'll enjoy it. :boink:
