Well i figured it was time to stop stalking and start my own Build up I started back when i was 17 i got my first 4runner a 1989 but after a blown t case and rust it was time to lay her to rest





on to the next after i got back for basic training in 2009 i picked up two more trucks a 97 ford f250 diesel and my 1987 4runner



after years of building sas and all the goodies i ended up with this




but after a while it was time for a change i sold the f250 to my best friend and got this back in July

the day i bought it


i got it home and cleaned it up


i got the 4runner at a good price but it needed work it had a small hole in the frame busted wind shield broken tail light and some one put a jeep seat in the rear cargo area :crazy: also the transmission soon became a problem i believe the truck suffered from the strawberry milkshake because it had a brand new radiator i was able to limp the track about 6000 miles before i lost first and second gear on the way home from camping

all done i took the running boards off too while it was in the air


i got a new trans from Toyota so i should not have any more problems i also put in a B&M cooler and a temp gauge so i think i got it all covered now
last week i sold my 87 to fund this build after the 87 sat in storage since i got the new runner i figured it was time to let go

so now for the plan i want a truck that i can go camping in and take down a light trail im not looking for another rock crawler but i want to be able to go out wheeling with my friends so hears the plan

super charger maybe
i started thinking of a roof basket/new roof rack all in one i have a few ideas drawn up
mount roll bar in the back
and i want to build a camping trailer

so i will keep you guys posted and i will take more pictures

Your truck is the same as mine, just with different issues :p You forgot to mention it's a sport edition too :)

I'm very interested to see what you do with yours, since my goals are similar to yours and yours is even the same color

so i got started on a new project i wanted a place to mount all my up coming switches lights lockers ect... ect... i decided i wanted to mount them where my ash tray and cig lighter where i don't use ether of those except for holding change. so fist things first i needed a donor panel so i headed to my local junk yard

got this out of another truck its not silver so i will have to paint it to match my sport interior


on to the mock up any dogfish head fans ?




on to the build
i picked up a plastic welder at Harbor Freight not the best by any means but it works


I figured it was only fair to use plastic from a 4runner so i grabbed a busted hatch piece while at the junk yard

so after a little fight and some help from one of are lift arms we where able to get it out of the back of my truck today and get it on my engine stand and i snap some more picks



 
well i finally got all the parts i need to do the SC had a few things on order from toyota (belt and gaskets) and got it mounted up today !!! :reddance: it went very fast i was surprised the only set back was where the tensoiner bracket bolt to the motor the holes needed to be tapped so it took alittle longer than expected but man what a difference in power

i did the plugs and wires while i was doing it it is way easier when the motor is torn apart haha. over all in am very happy with the power gained i cant wait to start slapping more mods on this truck
 
so got got my boost gauge installed today it works great the only problem is the stupid grab handle that toyota finds the need to toque the screws to 10,000 foot pounds and there cross tip so the first try the strip go figure i was able to dill one out and get it with my easy out the second one not so much i fought and fought and i broke the screw i was not able to easy out it so i had to dill i was able dill a hole big enough it fit a nut i was not near a welder today so i had to jb weld it in place i hope it holds

sorry it has been so long my computer died a i have been waiting to get it back with all my new photos on it so i went up to visit my buddy Ryan and start building my bumper that bandit runner designed for me he did a great job and the instructions where great it went flawless up untill we ran out of welding gas and i had to drive home with half the bumper tacked together haha but i was able to take it to my shop the next day and finish welding most of it so right now im about 80% completed on the bumper till i get some extra time to finish it up but here are some picks

my buddy ryan made me some frame end caps so i cut the frame and welded them in





started with the lower mounts they bolt to the factory tow hook holes

i drilled the holes for the turn signals and put a quick rattle can paint job till i get my paint ordered and the finish all the sanding i am going to color match it with the factory paint code


all done with the main structure


the ugly turn signals have been replaced those where cheap harbor freight ones that i ran out to buy to get me by my new ones are clear flush mount truck lights

now a few weeks later i went back to my buddy's to bend up some tube for the front





i think it turned out great let me know what you think

now i was finally able to get my hands on a jdm field monitor i really like how it looks in the truck its not the most useful thing i have bought but it really complements the theme i am going for in my truck and just the fact not to many people have them just adds to the cool factor



 
Wow, impressed! Great start. Where did you score the super charger! I've been hinting for some time now on a good deal???

it was a once in a life time kind of deal i was looking on CL one day and came a crossed it paid 1000 bucks for it and a motor and then sold the motor for 400 so i got the sc for 600 bucks i could not argue
 
hard to believe it has almost been a year since i last posted but that doesn't mean i did no modifications to my 4runner over that past year i have done alot to my truck

started with a toy tec ultimate lift the ride quality is amazing between my old worn out stock suspension and those nice coil overs

i got a cvt roof top tent


and i had to repaint my front bumper and i finally got around to mounting my winch


there is more to come and i will do a better job of posting it up
 
You're in Milford? We're neighbors. I'm in ND with a 99 Highlander. I'm surprised I haven't already seen your rig around. There are so few of us in New England.
