PCV Valve V6 vs 4cyl

So, I replaced my PCV Valve last night, what a debacle. 2 hours later we have a PCV valve out and a busted up grommet. Take the new parts from the dealer out and the PCV valve is different. It has a right angle to it versus the vertical valve I just pulled out; I check the sizes of the grommet and the pcv and they seem very similar in size where they go into the engine. So I put the booger in, she runs fine; i just chalked it up to another one of those part changes like they did for the exhaust manifold.

Look up the part number they sold me this morning and it not the correct one it is the for 5vz. Is there any difference between the two valves that would cause me issues? Different spring rates for pressure etc?

I am going to raise some holy hell at the dealer this afternoon as i specifically told the idiot at the counter my engine model and year. Thanks guys!

Would think PCV are different

I would think they're different, spring rates, orifices, delivering different flow/rate. But hey maybe not. How does it run? Coughing up any oil into air cleaner? That's what it'll do if choked up... I would replace it, this one s/b much easier to get out. Dumb counter people....can't get good help this days! Luck.

I only drove it to work this morning and haven't had any time to check anything other than the feel of how it drove by my arse. I am going to the dealership on my lunch break to give them an ear full and get the correct parts for free ( hopefully). Seeing how the valve itself is 6 bucks more for the 5vz than the 3rz.

The 3RZ valve is metal and is straight. I'm not sure if using the 5VZ valve will be detrimental or not, but I would definitely demand the correct part. Even if they don't give you the new valve for free (they most definitely should), the metal OEM 3RZ valve is under $10 from the dealer, so it shouldn't be a big deal either way.

UPDATE: I now have the correct part, took the other one out in 3 seconds and installed the new one in about 20 seconds, stinking hose clip gave me some lip. Also because I could not find it any where below are the OEM Toyota part numbers for the PCV valve for the 6cly and the 4cyl. I will update later with the grommet part number but they both use the same grommet which is nice.
Mc1337sauce, you should add the part number to your description of your video for ref. You are really awesome usually about having those in your vids but the one didn't have it. :p

12204-62010 = 5VZ-FE PCV Valve
12204-75010 = 3RZ-FE PCV Valve

Oh and while changing the part in the parking lot, I went to get a rag from my rear storage hatch and a "C" clip broke one of the hydraulic lifters and the gate slammed down on my wrist and chipped my rear tail light. Hurt like none other but I made it through. Now to find just a "C" clip. I think NAPA might be my saving grace there.

Thanks again everyone for the input / advice!

I do have the part number for the 3RZ PCV Valve and the Grommet in the video description...not sure if you just didn't see it or if it did not display to you, but it is there . You're talking about the video here, right?

Sounds like you have an excuse to get some LED tail lights now.

That would be the one; I didn't see it last night when I was looking through the desc last night. Maybe it doesn't display correctly on my phone or I was blind with frustration last night. My apologies, your awesomeness continues :guitar3:

Thanks again!
