Pelfreybilt Front Bumper Installation Question

I'm in the garage installing my front bumper and have a couple of questions. I've got the bumper off and am removing the plastic parts. There are two plastic pieces around the headlights, one to the side and one underneath in the front. Do these need to be removed? See pictures below.

Yup- although I'm pretty sure that bolt in the hole on the last pic needs to go back in to hold the headlight housing in place. I can't remember off the top of my head but it'll be pretty apparent once you take it apart.

The bolt in the last pic definitely needs to be retained and reused. The question is after you install the bumper would you be able to remove a headlight without ripping off the bumper? I think with specialized tools you MAY be able to get that bolt out.

Do you have the installation guide for this or know where I can find it?? I've searched unsuccessfully. I am buying one of the auction Pelfreybilt front bumpers from BAMF but am unsure if it will come with them. I can probably figure it out...but there will be a lot of swearing and will take me significantly longer.

KNorm92 Did you ever find an install manual? I am looking for one as well.
Thanks!

I just ended up using the Pelfreybilt instructions (which was basically me figuring it out with my buddy and old man).

***One thing to note*** I had to take 3 separate trips to the hardware store as the bolts provided with the bumper were not the right ones. Holler at me if you get hung up - I can dig through receipts to get you what I used if you need.

KNorm92 A list of what you needed would be so helpful; thanks. I really appreciate that.
I bought this thing used and it turns out the L brackets and the crossmember was not included in what I bought. I should have researched more on all the parts that was supposed to come with it. I'm on the hunt to find those now lol.
Thanks!

that would be great to reference. Since they didn't even put together their own hardware packs, there is likely no QC for the hardware.

Another question I have is what edge guard are people using for underneath the headlights?

I was going to pick up this trim lok: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CJRH81A

1/4 with 17/32 leg

I just went to O'reilly/Autozone and got basically that same door edge guard. Don't remember how many feet, but it was less than $30.

When I get home from work this afternoon I will try and find my receipts. I know that it was all fine thread M8 bolts...which are not the easiest things to find but I was able to get what I needed. The hardware Smittybilt included for my winch was a bit whacky too. Ended up getting new bolts for my fairlead - otherwise it would've been a real PITA to get off in the future. Probably have to go back and get longer bolts for that too as I am adding the Cascadia 4x4 Flipster V2 to hold my front plate.

As far as the trim lok goes - I'm not running any. Might add some in the future, but I have about a 1/4" gap to allow for body flex and I think it looks great as is.

If it makes you feel any better...the idiots at LINE-X lost my windshield washer reservoir plate and then tried turning it back on me. I ended up paying 50% down and told them they get the rest when they find it or have a new one fabricated. It's been almost 3 weeks and I haven't heard boo from them. incompetence at its finest.

That sucks. Hopefully they do right.
It turns out I only need the L brackets.

I had to get new bolts for the fairlead as well. SS Caps is what I bought for that.

Any luck on the hardware list KNorm92 ? Thanks!

I had a business dinner go longer than expected and ended up staying at my lady's place after. I have a reminder in my phone to look for my receipts this afternoon. Hopefully I can find the info you need & post some pics of my install tonight.

:cheer2:

Well Marine0369...wish I had better info for you. I know that they were M8 fine-thread. But as you can see from my pic, the receipts are of absolutely no use. I can try to measure them once this damn snow melts and get you some more info (I got 10+ inches yesterday and it's still coming down a bit).

I know it's a controversial topic and I refuse to play into any of it after what has transpired...but I could put you in touch with the (former) owners of Pelfreybilt - I have a personal cell #. They might be able to assist quickly and get you everything you need. They have been super responsive with me. Holler with your thoughts.

I *should* have everything to get this installed next week sometime.

I've had issues sourcing IS projectors. I only have a driver's side so the retrofit will have to wait until I can source the passenger projector.

Coated the bumper in POR-15. Those that want to go this route, I used a brush for the first pass and didn't get it right. Had to sand and repaint with their rattle can. Along with the horrid Pelfreybilt finishing it doesn't look great, but it's gonna get scratched up anyway so f*ck it, it is what it is.

Question for Jeffy & Xtremeluck (I already posted in his build thread) and any others—what are you doing to secure the headlights for the new housing designs if you didn't swap the out the bottom support brackets?

Once I figure out how to post a pic I will do it.
Thanks KNorm92 and tristero.
Bumper bolts were M10-1.25 x40. Need 6 of them. 2 of the stock bolts can be re-used.
I need to wire in the lights and relocate the winch control cable. I have a guy making me the lower support brackets.

Rad thank you!

I hope the fabricator gets the brackets right. I should have mine in a few days. Let me know if you need measurements.

Np tristero. He took some pretty good measurements so I feel good about it.
Would you happen to know what bolt size fit the side brackets (into the frame)?
