Pellet rifle

I am very familiar with firearms but don't have any experience with pellet rifles. Anyone have suggestions about would be a good starting rifle in the $150 to $300 dollar range? I would like to get something that will be useful beyond just pinking and I will not want to replace with something "better" in a month or two.

i had a gamo big cat that i used for the longest time. great little plinker, close to .22lr speeds with the right ammo and very simple to use not to mention accurate. depending on what you want to do with it there are better ones out there but this was the biggest bang for my buck at the time.

I have a Gamo Bull Whisper 22 cal. 975 fps. very accurate once broken in. It is a break barrel so you do not have to keep pumping.

You cant go wrong with anything by Gamo. Whisper series are amazing and my go-to rifle before a .22 actually.

Since I am 68 that wouldn't be much of a challenge
But I do appreciate the recommendation. Actually the first pellet rifle I ever fired (55 years ago) was a Benjamin I think, at least it looked like it.

I have a Hammerli 850 .22 cal, was about $300 (after taxes etc).

I don't know though, I really like it and would rather shoot it over my .22 magnum rifle, but I'm not a huge firearms guy. Only have a 9mm Beretta to compare it to.

In terms of ease of use and not having any issues, it's been good.
