Pending P0301?

Today I went to park my boat with my 97 4R (V6) and my Ultra gauge beeped at me and said I had a P0301 code.

Truck is running fine no issues that I'm aware of. Also, the CEL light is not on, just the code popped up on my Ultra gauge under "pending codes".

Never had a single code show up on this rig as long as I've owned it.

Spark plugs are new (less than 5k miles, OEM). I do have leaky valve cover gaskets and I believe the cylinder #5 spark plug had oil on it when I changed them out. This code is for cylinder #1 (misfire).

So, what gives?

Well it's had a miss condition at least once. I'd just check plug connections for now. If it continues, hits a random miss code or blinks (especially) then dive further into it. If it ever blinks, let off the throttle immediately. Luck. :cowboy:

I'll start with checking the connections. I believe the wires are all original, maybe its time to replace them.

I cleared the code after work and drove for about 30 minutes, code never came back on.

Checked all connections and everything appears to be fine. I'll keep an eye on it and report back if something changes.

You can always pull out the spark plug in #1 to see if anything is wrong there. Pretty easy to get to since it's in the front.
