Performance V6 vs V8

Everyone is right. Right now, I am going to go use my V6 and head up to the mountains with my wife and two kids in the car. I hope I can make it. That's a lot of weight.

Man. Your wife and kids must be HUGE! Bonga Bonga Bonga! :frog:

(just messin' know where you are coming from)

The Land Cruiser is clearly Toyota's best SUV.

Given that, why is it so expensive? What do you get from the Lexus LX that you don't get from the Land Cruiser?

I have a neighbor who has two LX 570's.

i believe the 5.7 is also made in the USA v. the 4.7... Japan.

and it's one of those things... a saying i say often... if u don't know, u don't know.

the 4.7 v8/transmission.... i own a boxer 6 porsche engine... owned the f20c honda s2000 .... owned the e46 m3.... in terms of pure smoothness of power delivery... lack of sound.... just silky go power... it absolutely amazes me that my humble mid-sized suv commuter truck has such untouchable driving qualities.

and to know how robust the thing is, i'm just effusive like others about how much it delivers.

i'm in love with this v8. Well done toyota. thank you. v6? i'd seriously give up the 4r and just pick up a prius. i ain't joking. it's that good.

I rest my case.

You will be happy to know we made it. At least someone got it.:bravo:

I have been sticking up for the V6, but after all this bantering... I agree, you can't compare the two. If you are happy with what you got, who cares? My V6 does all I ask it to do.... tow my boat, go off road, take my phat family to the snow and smile a little bit when I pass gas stations at $3.25/gallon.

Amen. Phatties unite!

I have a V8 cause they did not have a V6 SE. Simple. We should start arguing over the colors! SILVER FTW!!!

Have you actually driven a brand new, 2010/11 Land Cruiser? I have. It has become a bloated, rich man's commuter status symbol "truck". I'd take a 'Runner over one any day. Possibly a 460 and modify it...IMHO.

Can't back you on this one. I'd trade in a second.

LOL, that's cool. To each his own. I'd just much rather have a V8 Runner, especially off road. But, yes, I'm probably in the minority. Oh, and the mpg's on the 'Cruiser are truly horrible, overall the V8 'Runners are better overall. For me...sorry to be off-thread, btw. :thanks:

I don't have much else to add, but I made a thread a couple weeks ago about towing my girlfriends horses and almost getting stuck in snow doing so. I went to get turned around and hit some deep snow with the center diff locked and gunned it to get through. I LOVE the sound the V8 makes. I had a 5.7L Tundra but the 4.7 sounds way better. Love it. 1mpg be damned.

Of course, I'd sell the LC, get a GX470, and a couple SeaDoos. Haha. I'm too poor to understand driving a $75K car or truck.

Going to test drive a GX tomorrow just to settle the curiosity. :biggrin2: It's killing me to know.

i sat myself in a 2011 land cruiser while my truck was in for getting the rear lights swapped out.

nice interior. exterior... does look a bit plain jane and not as aggressive as those from say the mid 90s relative to its era, but i tried to see it with a nice lift and bigger tires. all blacked out. would look good.

would love to have it but then realized it's got the 5.7 made in the USA engine which i don't want. i'd rather have the 4.7. it'd save a few Gs as well. :D i believe the sticker was well north of 70K. it was fully kitted out with the interior electronics stuff which i liked.

i love how my 4r works and looks in its current iteration. tough to give up.

Please let us know how the test drive goes...I'd be curious. Also, for my needs, driving style, I'm not so sure I'd be taking a 470 off-road much without a few mods...it'll be sweet, I'm sure.

the GX is nicer then the LC and less money.

LOL!

And the Landcruiser owners would say ask who cares about mpg when you get a much better SUV that's more "bulletproof," can tow more without effort, etc. Who buys an SUV for great mileage anyway?

It's funny how all the V8 owners say the V8 is better for their lifestyle compared to the LC, but same argument for V6 owners saying the V6 is better for their lifestyle compared to the V8.

It's interesting how crazy V8 owners are about their engine, but Toyota now doesn't offer that V8 for any of their SUV's. Closest would be the 4.6L V8 for the Tundra.
