Perkins Rack Question

Just installed my Perkins rack today and couldn't be happier.

When driving there is some noticeable wind noise. Is there any quick fixes??

Such as adding lights or a wind deflector? Any Rack tricks? Anyone with a Perkins Rack please chime in. Thanks!

Adding a wind deflector will decrease the noise significantly. My original plan was to buy a sheet of plexiglass and cut it to size but currently i'm using a Yakima basket deflector that I flipped around and added some rubberized trim pieces they sell for door edges at autozone to go around the bottom edge to minimize the paint rubbing.

I mounted it by taking a 3/4" wide aluminum flat bar from Lowes/Home Depot and bent it at an angle to match the fairing. Then just bolted it up to the bottom of the outside light bolts.

Are there different sizes Yakima sells? Or is it standard?

They sell different sizes. The ones they sell by themselves are really oddly shaped. The one I'm using is from a Loadwarrior basket which is about 39" wide. You might have to special order it (8870038 RPL, Load Warrior Fairing).

If I were you, I'd buy an piece of black acrylic (or white depending on your theme) from either a local plastic shop or online store and cut to fit. Should be around $15.

I was lucky since Jason had the fairing lying around his shop and was about to throw it away when he offered it to me.
