We have two good size dogs (60 and 40 lbs)...looking for two pet carriers that are no more than 21 inches wide each so they will fit in the back of the 4Runner...or one large one for both dogs with a divider in the middle so they can be separated. Any ideas/thoughts? Thanks.

you will be hard pressed to find a large crate that is only 21" wide. My medium crate is 30" wide. Beside I dont know that it would be "humane" to have a med/lrg dog stuck in a 21" space... probably can even turn around. Sorry I cant be of help. now if you can put the 2nd row seats down you'd be in business

Take a look at the link in my signature, I have 2 German Shorthairs one is 58 the other is 70lbs. We had the divider in the back from the trunk to back seats but one of them figured out how to tear it down and get into other parts of the car. They also didn't like not having their own space so we put two large size crates from petsmart back there. Dimensions are 36D x 22 W x 28H each. I built a riser to overcome the overlap that I eventually converted to a storage drawer. It's come out really nice (been running it for over a year and half now) and the dogs are very comfortable in the back. Also don't have to worry about them becoming projectiles in an accident.
Nice! Thanks for the pics...looks like a great solution for the 4Runner and my wife's X3 as well - they are both 42" wide in the cargo area.

you could try fitting a travall.us dog divider but they don't make any specifically for Toyotas

now I do have a simple weathertech dog barrier in the daughters rav4 but I wouldn't recommend it.
it uses pressure to keep it in place and the feet push into the roof line which will leave a circle mark in the head liner. the daughter doesn't car, but I would have issues with it.
