Phoenix Arizona - Anyone want to race?

After seeing the V6 vs. V8 comparison running basically identical times in the 1/4 mile, I'm curious to see another test.

Not that this matters, and we didn't buy the trucks for their 1/4 mile times, but I did buy the 4 Runner knowing the V8 was tested at a 7.2 0-60 (in 2 wheel drive form).

I've had around 50 cars, and have had about 8 of them at the 1/4 mile track just for fun and to see "real world" numbers. Everything from a 12.3 second Vette to a 16.4 second F150! I plan to take my V8 4x2 Sport to Firebird one of these Friday nights. Does anyone have a V6 4x2 that would want to go just for fun? Or for that matter, a V8 4x4 or V6 4x4 for some comparison?

I'm all stock so hopefully we can find other "stockers"!!!

I read in the manual something along the lines of "don't hammer on the vehicle until after 500 miles". I think i'm at about 650! I was thinking about waiting until the first oil change too but figure I can do that a few days before it's time to actually hit the track.

Probably by the time we're ready, my buddy with the SR5 V8 4x4 with the TRD blower will be here (he's moving here) and can head down with us. If I still have the '04 GTO, I'll bring that too!

I can tell you I happened to hit it to the floor quite a few times before 1000, I floored it at the dealership with 6 miles on it on the test drive... Yes, not the brightest idea...

It may affect the long term side of the motor but im interested if anyone has babied theirs for a while then races it - seeing what the time is at the track Probably no difference.. but another detail i'd like to explore

I'm the same way. These motors (most motors now days) are built like brick-sh*t-houses. Years ago the owner of a Toyota dealer told my Dad and I to "drive it in the beginning how you'll drive it the entire time". So my Dad took that as "go ahead and beat on it from day one". Funny thing is, we did a test with 2 cars that he owned, a Honda Accord and an F150. We tested some 0-50 runs agains the same exact car to see if his were quicker. Oddly enough, there were! Probably coincidence, and we don't know for sure that the other cars were broken in lightly, but we just had to try it, and try it with 2 different vehicles!

Personally, I'm not from the school of babying the car for 1,000 miles. I'll hammer it once in a while for a quick burst. Break in it "right"!!!!!
