Photo Timeline of my 4Runner {LOTS OF PICS}

Are you planning on having frame plates, sway bar, bump stops, and limit straps? I'm starting to order parts for my SAS and plan to do 3 link also. Probably have more questions for you later if you don't mind.

Sick runner. Are sport hoods rare or something..? There's two in one of my local yards. Can't wait to get one out of there :p
I'm not sure about rare, but they're definitely desirable...and the fact that I found one in Millennium Silver was the kicker

LINY4Runner Just curious, did you ever go extended brake lines in the rear? And what're your plans gonna be for the VSC and TRAC? I'm sure you have AndyMod but it's still quite annoying. When you wheel do you leave the TRAC on or turn it off too?
I have the extended brake line with the Marlin kit, but I haven't installed it yet. With the stock LC springs I felt it wasn't 100% necessary but now with the 851's I absolutely NEED it.
VSC, TRAC and ABS are going bye-bye for good with the SAS, but I would ALWAYS disable the traction controls when wheeling- they only get in the way.

Bryan,

you have a great plan and I cant wait to see the finished product!! One question, have you considered hydraulic assist steering? I think you are going to have substantial scrub radius with the ifs hubs and 2inch spacers. Just curious. Looking forward to pics with parts on the ground.
I'm gonna do the steering with the IFS box and standard TG HiSteer for now...I know it's not optimal but it'll get me back on the trails. There's a few things I plan on upgrading after a few runs (front locker, anyone?) and hydro-assist is definitely on the list. It's the kinda thing where I'll set it up and see how it feels then tweak things from there...There's gonna be a year of tweaking, I think, before I'm 100% happy with everything.

I have frame plates. The rest of those are kinda the thing that I need the truck set up for already to measure/tailor-fit but they are coming down the pipe. Sway bar will likely be a torsion bar type, I'd love air-bumps but they're pricey. Limit straps will have to be measured out at ride height and full droop so I'll have to have the truck setup first.

Thanks for the interest and questions guys! Keep commenting and keep asking! I'm always open to share what I learned from this

problems...

I started the transfer case swap today and immediately hit a roadblock:crutch:.

So my fingers were crossed, but it didn't work. Same engine, same tranny, different t-case. I'm properly fu*ked. I'm gonna try to find the transmission "bell housing" thing from a T100 to see if maybe that'll bolt to the transmission then allow me to bolt the T-Case up to my truck but I'm still gonna need a custom rear driveshaft to have the thing driving under it's own power...

Any ideas/advise, guys?

Are you positive that came out of a 3.4 T100? That is a forward shift t-case since it has no shifter. Pretty sure T100's were all top shift. Can you count the splines inside the coupler?

Just FYI, my t-case bolt pattern looks like your multimode one.

You are were probably going to have to get the driveshafts lengthened anyway since the Multimode t-cases are longer than the standard gear drive ones.

What are you trying to do?
T100 transfer case in my Runner for the passenger side drop axle

Yeah I checked the VIN from the truck, it's a 3.4 auto T100...I think it'll work if I can get my hands on one of those bell housings from a T100

I know it's a forward shift case, and I knew I'd need to drop the shifter into the front spot (where the blockoff plate is) but I figured I could use the adapter that I have in the truck already...in retrospect that was a pretty stupid assumption on my part...why would I assume it would work?

The bolt pattern on the T100 adapter looks spot on, but this is a parts diagram and I know how sh!tty these things are, being a Toyota employee and all

Why not just run a mini truck t-case?

Not sure it'll bolt up to my transmission...I figured same engine/transmission, the T100 case would be my best bet. Even if I were to run a mini truck case I'd be in the same situation I'm in now, maybe worse.

It wont bolt up. Marlin, inch worm, trailgear make adapters to put a mini truck gear drivin t-case behind your trans(not a chain drive one). It put the front DL on the passenger side, it gives you options of gearing the t-case and my opinion it's a stronger case.

spamming my own thread here... :bigok:

okay so I have a 23 spline minitruck t-case...lol...yes, already...my buddy has a turbo pickup parts truck in his back yard...just need the adapter to make it work...Marlin, Inchworm or Trailgear? Leaning more towards Marlin because he's awesome and they're all similarly priced

By the way, I'm still on schedule for dropping the truck off on Sunday! :frog:

I would go for inchworm. Im not a fan of marlins customer service. Go on their forum and youll have a lot of people feeling the same. Great products though. At least with trail gear you get that lifetime warranty but in the past they haven't had the best reputation. If youre trying to meet a deadline with your truck Id avoid marlin.
