Did you use the T100 oil pan?

I noticed your steering is behind the axle...is that unique to the FJ80 axle?

Yes to both. There is a high steer available for the LC axle but it's like 800 bucks, maybe later.

Looking forward to some pics of your finished product.

Sorry man that sucks, but welcome to the world of custom suspension; it's never easy and no one makes a 100% install ready kit (even if they say they do).

Look at Scotty's old 3rd Gen from Addicted Off-Road; I believe he ran the stock steering arms but with one ton Chevy tie rod/ends, and drag link? Also check out the Front Range Off-Road F-Toy on Pirate, I think he also ran the stock style arms to keep the COG nice and low. There's also the option of cutting the oil pan and welding a section of round tubing in there, you might get 1-2" more up travel.

Bryan,

What your referring to for steering is called Low Steer Crossover. There are some advantages to it in actuality, first is that it gets your tierod below the springs so as not to interfere with the pan. That is also a downside as it is exposed to rocks more readily. Also from what I understand it also is less prone to breaking steering arm studs like hi-steer has a tendency to to. The other down side is that you have to build your own. but you only have to build one. just the passengers side. Also you still have to contend with your draglink which may or may not also encounter the oil pan. Here are some pics of a low steer arm that was built by a friend.

here is a pretty good discussion on pirate about low steer

Good luck as you move forward. This is custom work your doing so, "Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming" -Dora the fish

yes I hang out with my kids way to much. LOL

Rockdawg84: do you have any pictures of that beast installed? Looks ugly as sin
if that's my only option, I'd rather do some custom work to the pan as Dirtco mentioned!

LOL I agree that it is not the best looking arm. I will try and get some pics of his setup. And you need the stock arms to build one of these. Time to chop up that oil pan.:snacker:

Get the FROR crossmember. I built my own that mounts to the factory t case mounting holes on the bottom. If i were to do it again i would just buy Brian's which is a pretty damn good design.

Yeah I like it but Dan is hesitant about it because of the hiccups of so-called "kits" but in talking to the guys over at FROR it seems that this is the "industry standard" piece for anyone with a Toyota Crawler and they assure me that the one for the 23-spline gear-drive case will fit in my frame rails so that'll probably be the one I order...just need funds now...

I guess it's perfect timing that 02running is taking my 882+90004/LC9 lift kit off my hands this weekend!

With the All Pro 3-link setup did you follow the instructions in relation to where you mounted the brackets to the frame? In other words did you mount the brackets on the frame in the same place they did using their hybrid 60 axle? More than likely I'll be using a waggy Dana 44 drivers drop but I'm trying to figure out if I'll have to switch up where the brackets are mounted to the frame or just make new brakets for the axle side. Any info you can give me would be appreciated.

Build is looking good but we definitely need more pics!

Bump

Where's the pics?!?! Don't do this to us man!!!!!
Going back to work on the truck tonight...settle down everyone lol I think you guys are getting more excited than me!

Tonight will be the mock up...we're gonna set it up as per the instructions and see what we think. I don't know how far forward they have the axle set according to their instructions so we may move the mounts forward if required...stay tuned for our findings

Tonight we spent more time tinkering and thinking and measuring and such than actual working. I did, however get the T100 oil pan in (which gave us a TON of room) and the steering column back in. Here's a few pictures of the axle mockup, with the truck at ride height, steering links in, strut towers in...looking good so far...

Are you moving the axle forward at all? If so how much?

It's getting stretched but it's not going to be much. The steering box can't be moved any further on the frame so it's all gonna depend on how much space I need between the drag link, tie rod, track bar, axle tube and oil pan. It's a lot to cram in such a small spot. Not sure on the final wheelbase yet, it'll be somewhere in the 106-107" range I think.

Washer bottle will definitely need to be relocated, but I don't know how far I can move it without hacking up the wiring harness to it...we'll see.

Basically at this point I need the transfer case in the truck to move forward. I have to chop the transmission crossmember to fit the link mounts but I want the new t-case crossmember in before cutting the old one out so that the drivetrain is exactly where it should be. Adapter is getting delivered today, FROR crossmember is getting ordered tomorrow, still need to pick up the t-case from my buddy and the top shift kit is on backorder till mid-August. So we may be delayed a little bit... :ybrick:

Ahhh backorders are no fun. Luckily it's not that far away, just a short delay. I'm trying to decide on shock lengths right now lol and ORI is backordered 8 weeks. Hopefully not longer because I need to order tomorrow so they will arrive around the time I'm ready to put them in... YEAH RIGHT! It never works like that!

Funny- your truck was the reason I built mine like I did (suspension wise), and that was 3 years ago lol and now we're throwing in straight axles at the same time! Your truck is gonna be sweet!

Have you tried Poly Performance?
