Photo Timeline of my 4Runner {LOTS OF PICS}

So I spent a few hours trying to make my factory sway bar work, but it just isn't gonna happen. In all honesty I think the axle tube is too cramped for ANY sway bar at all in the front. So the Antirock is out.

So I tried putting my rear sway bar back in to see how the truck feels, and it feels so much better than it did with no sway bars. Still a little sway so I've decided to run an Addco rear sway bar and build my own disconnects rather than even attempting a front bar. That should keep the sway under control for sure.

Still need to align the truck and get the balls to wind it up to highway speeds.

Took Summer on her first "offroad" trip...kinda just went driving on the beach in 2WD but still, we were technically off the road...

This thing is perfect. Out of all the SAS builds this one may be my favorite. I like the track width especially. Plus you used a yota axle. Excellent job and I can't wait to see you flex it out hard on some trails!

Wow...dude thanks so much. There's so many awesome builds out there, a good handful of SFA's sprouting up and even guys like downpour11 doing dual axle swaps, so to be a favorite out of all those choices feels pretty awesome...justifies the time and cash spent.

No problem man, credit is given where it's due and you definitely deserve it. Don't get me wrong I love downpour and ADH's trucks but neither one is something I would want to be my DD. Your truck I would take and drive all day. I can see me doing your style of swap on my truck and that's what does it for me.

How much of a bear was it to go passenger drop? I imagine you had to mess with the exhaust?

Passenger drop wasn't terrible in terms of placement (one of the pics shows how I pounded the exhaust flatter to accomodate) but I hadn't done my homework before hand. I needed a 23-spline case to work with my transmission, Inchworm adapter to run an older gear-drive case on my newer chain-drive truck, triple-drilled flange in the 27-spline output PLUS the adapter for the triple-drilled to work with my OEM driveshaft...a lot of trial and error, but I got it all figured out. Still need a custom baseplate for the shifter...working on that next.

I, too, like the use of the Toyota axle, it was the first thing I was dead-set on. I wanted it all Toyota, because I work at the dealership and I've been a Toyota tech so I was more comfortable with it over a Waggy 44 or something like that. In retrospect I'd have used the 9" housing out of an FJ80 for the extra width (63" vs. 59") and scrap the spacers but I got an awesome deal on this axle and it was just dropped in my lap so I ran with it.

Thanks again man!

I agree, very clean Brian! Came out awesome.

Mine is more of a rock crawler, but it handles amazing on road and puts babies to sleep on the highway... Then it'll crawl over your minivan and date your sister. :D

That's not that bad without the adapters on adapters issue. I've always thought when I do my SAS I'll just throw the marlin ultimate in with a passenger drop. I mean I'm gonna need new driveshafts anyway. Might aswell throw in a crawl box too haha. I tossed around the 80 series axle too. Mine may end up being a modified version of ADH and yours, yota axle but a flexy radius design.

My sister is in California..... No minivan tho. Just a lowered celica :D

The runner is looking great Bryan. I'm glad to see its finally driving around. I have to ask though... how are you able to get the factory sway bar in with it that high? I tried reinstalling mine and it completely gets pinned against the e locker shield... would love to get some of the sway out of mine. Don't get me wrong it rides fine but those emergency lane changes are ass puckering at best... :wow:

Mine will be on the rocks shortly don't you worry!

My e-locker is taken apart completely to just be the base plate and the lever...it's drilled out for a push-pull cable to actuate the locker now...screw electronic shit!

Am I supposed to see a difference between the two pictures? Ah, there is a tire on top now.

Wow, what a transformation. Nice job Bryan!

Did you fab yours up or did you buy an off the shelf solution to making the elocker all mechanical?

Did half the alignment last night...toe is zeroed in and the truck feels fantastic. Caster is still in the negative, I tried shortening the upper link to get it set up but I'm hitting some resistance...not sure if the rod ends are bottoming out in the bar or if it's just a lot of weight to twist. Gonna pull the upper link out tonight and assess the situation.

Tweaking.......
(not twerking)

Addco rear sway bar is on order, along with some hardware to make disconnects. Marlin front driveshaft is custom ordered.
