Wasn't able to find a set of 1-ton ends locally...so I ordered the already reamed one from JCR...should be here in a few days

this is from a thread in the off topic section, but figured it'd be cool to post up my garage here while we're waiting for the TRE's since someone was asking about the bikes earlier...

most of you know my 4Runner...

JCR decided to go on Vacation from Dec 25-Jan 2 and didn't ship the steering parts until the 2nd (even though I ordered them on the 22nd). Tracking number says they come today which is perfect because I'm off tomorrow. I'll get the TRE's in then drive up to work, set the final numbers for caster and toe, THEN install my steering stabilizer.

I got a High Angle Driveshaft but not through Jesse...actually found a used one from the rear of an FZJ80 through the Land Cruiser forum. It's already built with spicer universals, .250 wall DOM, and the high angle CV joint. Just have to have it cut down and balanced again and it'll be good to go! Much win. So crawler. Such dirty. Wow.

A little reminder for you guys that I did actually wheel my truck at one point...

Right. So I replaced the loose steering parts and I'm not 100% sure it's any different. Took it for a drive and didn't get any bump-wobble but I did get a speed-related death wobble. Hoping it's just because the alignment was knocked outta whack when replacing the TRE's. So I'm gonna align it again, while I have it in I'm gonna balance the tires(again) and check the torque on the hub nuts/wheel bearings.
Hopefully that'll do it.

So I may have fixed the death wobble...but I won't know because something bad happened...

this is my rear locker motor...there's supposed to be a gear there...and the gear is supposed to be held on by an e-clip. Both are missing, I'm assuming inside my rear diff housing...

But hey on the bright side I got my ditch light kit from [MENTION=64712]CBI OffRoad Fab[/MENTION] installed!

Yep. So now I have a small gear floating around in my diff housing, just waiting to jam itself in my new Yukon ring gear

Haven't driven it further than 100 feet since I found it, and I haven't heard that dreaded crunch yet so I think I'm good. Just pissed I have to pull the diff.

Oh and the steering stabilizer I ordered from Trail Gear is for Toyota steering...and I have one-ton steering...so the u-bolts don't fit.

Can I get a break....please?

I'm right there with you Bryan and dealing with my 06 and putting the factory suspension back in... :doh: Don't worry your not alone. Two weekends wasted and still not done. Its the wifes daily and the only reason for doing any of it is because I love her and hate seeing her at 4 months preggo struggling to get into a 5-6" lifted 4runner on 33's.... Doesn't help that I sold the factory spindles and had to buy another set that happened to be off a taco and didn't realize that the taco and runner upper ball joints are different :faint: (Found that out Saturday morning about an hour after I sold the Camburg UCA's off it and had no alternative that would work....) And that when I sold the factory spindles 3+ years ago, I left the lower ball joint bolts on them which happen to be a size that no one has readily available (M16x1.5x50mm) and low and behold the dealer was gonna take a couple days to get them. I had already swapped the whole front end back to stock last weekend only to have to put all the upgrades back on because of 4 missing bolts that I couldn't get till Tuesday.

Sorry for the rant but the last week my eye has started twitching because of how stressed out I have been with the whole ordeal.

So believe me when I say that I do know how you feel and can relate more than you probably realize.... Good luck with pulling the rear diff and finding the gear intact. Hopefully the C clip is stuck to the drain plug and that all is good.
