It seems that photobucket has changed their TOS and are requiring upgrades in order for photos to be shared with forums. I am posting in the hopes that those of us out there that have created DIY threads will either upgrade our accounts or move the photos to other hosting sites and/or update our DIY threads to allow for others to continue to learn from each others experiences which is the whole point of the forums :)

They are now charging $40 USD per month or $400USD per year for their premium hosting plan, their only plan that allows hotlinking and 3rd party hosting so users can embed their photos on other websites. That's way too rich for me.

While we can upload photos here they are displayed as attachments to the post which is a little cumbersome if you're trying to write a complex DIY with many steps involved.
 
While it has been at least 10 years since I've managed a vbulletin forum, I'm sure there might some sort of plugin to allow other sites like imgur to post photos as images instead of links.

I'm sure the mods have been investigating this. It was a big story in the tech world when photo bucket flipped their switch a couple weeks ago.
 
People and their petitions crack me up. Obviously they made this move to survive. You can either pay the $400 or move to a different host. I can't believe it even stuck around so long. I felt like they've been going down the drain since 2011.
 
Last ditch effort for PB to make money at the cost of losing all their supporters. That price is outrageous. It's cheaper to make your own website and host your own pictures! Better start migrating your pictures now before the site goes under and you lose them all for good.

Going through my 70 page build thread is going to be a nightmare :pout:

There is the option via the web editor to place attachments inline. While doing your write-up click the arrow next to the paperclip and select the filename you uploaded. I've used it repeatedly in my thread instead of Photobucket. There is a limit of 8 attachments per post to contend with. But that just means you create a couple of "reserved" posts, then go back to advanced editing to do the write-up.

I've started using postimage.org and so far it's as easy as using Shitbucket. Easier actually — just upload pic and then one-touch copy the "fourum hotlink" button and then past it right into the post wherever you want. Quick & simple.

What a freakin mess. I have thousands of images I have to correct now.

Thanks Photobucket. And I was paying for an account too! Just go ahead and cancel that subscription.

Yes, install the extension, then clear all your browser cache and you will be able to see all the photos again. For how long, no one knows. At least until PB blocks it again.

photobucket is garbage anyway. i can't believe people still use it AND they're trying to charge $400 a year to post images on forums?! isn't that mostly what photobucket users do? fuxk that noise. flickr for life!

PB didn't use to be garbage... I've been using it for nearly 10 years. It's slowly gotten that way. I only continued to use it b/c that's where everything was for me already. I would have picked a different place had I needed one only a year or so ago.
