Hi everyone,

I'm a new member on the forum; I bought a '15 4Runner SR5 a few weeks back, and have used this site to do quite a bit of research. I've really been appreciative of having such a great resource for finding info on the truck and accessories, so thanks to everyone for the insights.

I wanted to do my part and add to the site by providing a couple of photos of an accessory that I couldn't find many photos of on the forum: the CargoLiner Ultimate Pet Liner. I bought this setup (part number 109353) because it offered full protection of the plastics (sidewalls and wheel arches) in the back of the truck from the dog's claws, and also covered the 2nd row seat backs, which serves the additional purpose of protecting them from skis, etc.

My truck does have the 3rd row of seats, but I don't plan to use them often, so they are covered redundantly with the rear OEM plastic mat on top of the CargoLiner. That said, the first photo shows the split that allows them to be popped up independently. The kit comes with a piece of vinyl that covers that gap.

I did purchase the tailgate cover and bumper cover as well, both of which are optional. The bumper cover is great; the dog can jump in on his own, and I don't sweat him scratching up the painted top portion of the bumper. It also works great if you want a clean surface to sit on when putting on ski boots, etc. I fold it up and place it on the cargo mat when not in use.

Installation uses a lot of small pieces of velcro (supplied), and while the fit on the seats is good, the sidewall pieces aren't super taught. That said, it still looks like it will provide some good protection from the pup. It's been in the truck for a week, with a couple of days in the high 70s/low 80s, and everything is holding just fine so far. I went with the dark grey color, and it's a good match to the black Softex on the seats, so the vinyl that wraps over the top of the 2nd row seats blends in relatively well.

Hopefully these photos can help anyone else researching this product.

I'm interested to knowing how this stands up to loading cargo on top of it. I frequently load up one side of the truck with rifle cases, ammo boxes, overnight bags, and a couple cases of beer, and leave the dog with the other half.

I'm also sure that it's much easier to wipe muddy paw prints off of, and easier to get dog hair out of. But I'd like to hear real experience with this as vinyl tends to keep dog hair with static.

I'm also not sure about self adhesive velcro strips on the plastic panels under the rear most windows.

So the material is vinyl? I have a canvasback that I'm going to either sell or send back because I need more coverage like this one, however, I really like the canvasback material and I know it'll last. What are your thoughts on durability?

I have the Canvasback to keep the hair out of the carpet I didn't need the sides as our dog doesn't claw anything but I do love that fold out bumper cover.

To answer a few questions:

Their website says it is "heavy-duty, non-slip vinyl." I believe it has a fabric backing (the white you can see in the first photo of the OP). It seems relatively durable in the short time I have had it; skis and other gear haven't cut it or left any sort of permanent marks or indentions yet.

I also heavily considered the CanvasBack product, but I liked that this was vinyl rather than fabric...it seemed like it might be less prone to having dog hair "stick" due to the smooth surface, rather than the textured fabric surface that the CanvasBack looked to have. That said, the dog has only been in the truck once since I installed it, and he sat on a blanket on the OEM cargo mat, which covered the liner. I am hoping that the OEM cargo mat will catch the majority of his hair and dirt. I bought the 3rd row more for future needs, so I can get away with having the mat cover the seats. I'll try to watch for the hair on the side panels - and see if the static electricity makes it stick.

In addition to the dog, I also thought this product was nice for hauling gear. Prevents the wheel humps from getting scratched when loading camping gear, plastic totes, etc. in the back.

The liner doesn't cover the rear doors. It ends at the rear edge of the door opening:

I do like that this wraps over the tops of the seats, so if the pup decides to try to climb over (which he occasionally does), the tops of the seats have a little protection. This is also seemed good to catch any slobber when he has his snout hang over the top of the seat, looking toward the front of the truck. Almost like a top-cap for the seats. I sat in the back seat after the install, and the material doesn't seem thick enough to make the seat uncomfortable.

I have a camping trip coming up soon; I'll try to add more to the thread and let everyone know how it held up.

Any worry about the velcro adhesive messing up the plastic or does it come off easy with alcohol is you decide to remove all the little pieces?

I had a canvas back in my 2000 T4R and after years of exposure to sun, the Velcro adhesive started to fail. I bought new Velcro which made the liner stay in place again, but the old adhesive was really baked on to the plastic trim below the rear side windows. I loved the liner, but wanted to share that long term use info.

I've replaced a couple of the velcro strips that had lost their adhesive. I keep a roll of velcro in the back for when I add the door covers on every now and then. I haven't had a problem cleaning the adhesive off...yet.

Thanks for sharing, I'm also thinking of buying something to protect that part of the vehicle. I'd also like to know how it holds up, the Velcro melting is a concern here in Florida. Cheers!

I installed mine about 2 weeks ago. Slight smell for the first few days, now nothing. Other than the install with all the little pieces of velcro, i'm very happy with it.

Just a suggestion here. When I have to stick or glue things down where I want to protect the surface, I first put down a piece of 3M aluminum tape. (some call it speed tape or mach tape). Then stick, glue, epoxy or whatever you want to the tape. Then when you want to remove it, just peel the tape up. It leaves no residue. A big roll is expensive, but I've seen small rolls at Home Depot. The 2" wide works best. It is sharp on the sides; so you do have to be careful or you will get the paper cut from hell!

Any information on how this stuff heats up when the car is off sitting in the sun, does it get hot like leather does or more like the softex it stays cooler?
Also curious if it gets warm while driving the car?
