PIAA vs HELLA Fog Lamps

Hey everyone, I'm curious if anyone is running aftermarket fog lamps, and if so which ones. I'm putting a new bumper on and have 4" fog lamp openings. I'm looking at PIAA 510 and Hella Micro DE. KC has an led fog but I'm concerned about ice buildup on those, I'd prefer to stick with halogen. Looking for recommendations. I need something DOT approved for fogs so something like the rigid or Baja designs aren't for me.

I been using the PIAA 520 series fog-lamps. They've been on since 2012 and only lost one bulb since! But... I've since converted them to H.I.D. technology. I've had great success with the HID lowbeams, I love the color (6000K), and their lack of glare into on-coming traffic; I couldn't say that when I tried to use the LED (6000K) low-beams, far too much glare! The PIAA halogen bulbs are good, but I just needed to find something to modify that wouldn't cost me a 'King's ransom' to do lol, which is why I switched to the H-3 HID system!



These fogs are 6" in diameter and defuse the light pattern very evenly across their intended dispersion angle! They are user friendly and cost effective... if you shop first before purchase! 'Best to you'

Out of curiosity, since my knowledge of how various types of lighting truly works is from from any kind of expert level, how did you get less glare when switching between bulb types? More importantly from LED to HID as my understanding is HID being brighter.

I was under the impression that the light itself, not the bulb, is what controls beam pattern, direction, etc.
