Picked her up on Wednesday

So after A LOT of discussions with the boss, we decided we both wanted a new vehicle for me and she especially did NOT want a mini-van. She is the one who thought I may like the 4Runner. Like I said in my introduction, I drove Jeep Wranglers for 12 years and we both like a “truck” feel to our vehicles. I emailed dealers and didn't want to deal with an b.s. and got their "bottom line" price. Funny how much that can vary. I went to local place and test drove a SR5 4X4 with 3rd row seats and premium package. That dealership would not come off MSRP. Got salesman’s card and went on my way.

Received emails from dealers with offers anywhere from 3% - 11% off MSRP. Picked dealer and went in on Friday. Do to some poor mental math; I left dealership because payment was higher than I had calculated.

Went back to wife to discuss and we decided to "think on it" a little bit. Over the weekend, we went to our lake house in far north central WI with two kids (6 and 1) plus the dog (55lb Terrier mix) in my 4 door Accord. Were pretty loaded down but not excessively so. On way home we both started talking at once about biting the bullet on the new vehicle, but she wanted to check out the Honda Odyssey because a co-worker of hers had looked and "LOVED" it and some dealers were offering up to 20% off MSRP.

We looked at online reviews and prices and she finally said, it's your vehicle, do what you want. I am tired of dealing with it. So without saying anything to her, I called salesman at place I walked out of and asked is original deal was still good? He said yes, and I said I wanted $X for my trade, and have the truck ready and I would be there at 2PM and had to be done by 3PM.
Got there at 2, handed them my keys, there was a 2013 SR5 4X4 with Premium package (Silver) sitting right there. Moved my stuff into it, sat down and signed the initial agreements and met with the finance dealer and was out of there by 3:15PM.

Best part is the salesman I purchased from is the brother of the salesman at the local dealership but he left that Toyota dealership because people were driving a little farther to get a better deal. Sadly, the local place flat out WILL NOT deal on the cars. Full sticker price or GTFO!

Thanks. It rides wonderfully. I have had the Honda for 2.5 years so it will take a little getting used to. Ride is different. I am challenging my self to keep off the gas and see how high I can get the avg. MPG. On the way home from the dealer (going 55 in a construction zone for 20 miles) I was up to 25.3.

All I read was blah blah blah, did NOT get a mini-van, blah blah blah. Disaster averted. :bravo:

Congrats on the new purchase, if you have will power you will be really surprised at how great the MPG is if you keep to a modest 50-55 mph cruising speed!

Crappy cell picture from the garage.

Started the mods.

Removed SR5 badging from the C pillars and ordered 1st and 2nd row Husky Liner floor liners for her.

Thanks. A roof rack is on the short list. I still have some room at the top. A lift will be down the line a bit.

I have the Warn 8K winch left over from the Jheep. I am torn between a hidden winch or full blown front bumper.

I've been planning the mods for several weeks.

I really miss the Jheep, but won't really miss it now. I am in the 4Runner for the long haul, so have time. This is my daily driver, so I won't go too extreme as those days of more hard core wheeling are behind me.

Some remote camping and having a well set up BOV are high on my priority list. This will do the job perfectly.

Love to see another silver 4Runner that looks like it will get a lot of TLC like mine has. Welcome aboard. You won't be sorry.
