Pics of 4th Gen Without Running Boards

Has anyone taken the running boards off of their 4th Gen 'runner? I am thinking about taking mine off and would love to see what a 4th Gen looks like without the boards. Thanks.

a lot of people have done it, and it seems like most prefer it! i still have mine on, god bless'm in their rubbermaid glory! I think i may be taking them off this weekend tho, just for the hell of it and to see how it goes. I KNOW it will LOOK betterm but I DO use the step getting into the vehicle. Im not short at 72" or 6'2" ;-) , but I do find myself using it nearlt everytime I get in. Maybe its because im used to it, and have never tried getting in without it. But we'll see. The truck will look better, but im concerned about losing the protection from 1) the doors off as$holes who park next to me and 2) potential paint damage (rocks? etc) weak I know......

Im sure if you do some looking around ull find pics of both!
 
I took mine off a couple days after I bought the truck. On my 03 I thought they looked very plastic-y. At 6'2" I didn't need them to get in or out and they decreased the ride height while providing limited protection (at best) for offroad use. And I just like the way the truck looks without them. For the offroad look that I was going for they just had to go!

I took mine off and it looks awesome, but not as awesome as the look on my wifes face when she racked her shin trying to use a running board that no longer exists.

I take mine off on off road trips but I get a lot of rock chips especially on the back door. I like them on the street though. They keep mud ect. from being thrown all over the sides and make it easier to wash/dry the top.
 
I deboarded mine not long after I got it. cheapest mod you can do. plus it makes it look taller which is always a good thing.

How many of these are lifted?

Wow! I was thinking removing the boards would make my vehicle (which really is pretty much bone stock) look a little more like its tough heritage. These look great!!

How many of these pictures are lifted vehicles? Most of them look like they have at least a 2" lift without the boards.

My silver 03 has the charcoal cladding on it, so I wonder if that would help keep the stone nicks off the rockers and doors. Anyone have experience with this?
