Hello all -

I checked out the wear on my tires and it looks like the dealership was off the mark with my camber setting. Both tires are showing wear on the inside.

Should I use this as a good excuse to buy the BFG All Terrains I've wanted or rotate them around for a few hundred more miles?
For that matter, would you recommend a different tire? Yokohamas or something? I have close to a grand saved up in my 'new tires fund'

I would rather pay up now if it's the safer choice.

Mine are worse...I guess it just depends on the weather. If it rains a lot I would replace them. Hydroplaning is no fun on bald tires...But, if you live where it doesn't rain I would save the money and keep running them. Especially if the backs are decent...

I think it is time to ditch them. Hydroplaning in rain is no fun! I guess it all depends on what type of tire you want. Do you do more on road driving than off road? Do you want something less aggressive and rides really well or something more aggressive and better off road?

You have tons of options when it comes to A/T tires. You have the GY Silent Armor, Nitto TG, Hankook Dynapro, BFG TA KO and a couple of others. If you want something more agressive you have the GY Duratrac, Kelly Safari TSR, Firestone Destination MT, BFG KM2, Hankook Dynapro MT among others. Hope this bit of info helps.

Thanks for the responses! The rears are in better shape no doubt, but still uneven wear. The city I'm in sees fairly little rain, especially in the next few months, but I'd rather deal with this now while I can and have the option to rather than later and under the gun.

looks like you need an alignment, if you get new tires, that is some heavy wear on the inside.

Yeah rotate with alignment if the rear tires are better. Your gonna need an alignment anyways or your new tires will do the same. :roadkill:

They look like my Taco's tires with 33k on them. I'm getting new tires for it soon, but maybe squeezing another month or two out of them. I'll have new tires on it before the rain comes around.

I would rotate them get an alignment and wait until fall or the tires you want go on sale. As far as BFG all terrains I would go with some Nitto Terra Grapplers plus they are usually cheaper

any had any experience with Goodyear silent armour? my buddy had them on a land rover and he liked them but seeing if anyone has had them on a T4R.
Im stuck between GY silent, Nitto Grapplers, or BFG AT K/O.

I have been mentally preparing myself for the new tire decision (for now I will rotate and have the dealership correct the bad camber setting) and narrowed my choices down to pretty much the same as you've listed.

The 4Runner is my DD and I had to be honest with myself in that I probably won't be taking it off pavement more than a handful of times during the year, and even then I won't be doing any rock crawling or river crossing or mud bogging. Given that, at most, I would be doing some mild off roading it seems Michelin LTX AT2 are the set of tires I will most likely buy when the time comes.
