Here are picture of my Alpine DVA D900 DVD player (AWESOME!) picture and control with 7 inch monitor and Vis.logic 7" headrest monitor with built in RF headphone transmitter and custom mounted escort x50 smart cord control in center button..

awesome....can't you switch the color of the buttons from green to amber? i don't know about that unit but i know other alpine units can so it matches the color scheme of the 4runner.

No, i wish i can change it to orange to match the dash light but these new alpine you cant anymore.

TKS! I was going to get the kenwood DD too but it would not fit in the 4R DD slot. not tall enough. I'm waiting for one of the stock speaker to blow or something so i can have an excuse to change them out to some better speaker, but the power from the alpine unit sure make them sound a lot better!

Escort Smartcord

How did you manage to get your Smart Cord to fit in that location? That looks great there. I am planning on installing my Escort soon, but was unable to find a suitable place for the smart cord interface.

Nice work man! Where and how much did you get your vizualogic headrest monitors for and how difficult were they to install?

I just ran the direct wire to the center button and took apart the smart cord control and modify the empty switch button to fit the smart cord control.

the headrest I got new for $700 the set. come with 2 wireless headphone, remote and the monitor already built in them. very easy to install.

So how does it match to the factory interior? From the pictures, it looks pretty spot on, but how do they look up close?

If you look closely you will see that they are LC/LX headrest not 4 runner. I check on ebay for several month from one of the seller forgot who? for a set for the 4R but no luck so when a brand new set of headrest for a 2003-04 LX and LC came up in the same color (stone) as my leather seat I quickly check if it would fit my 4R with my friend 03 LC headrest and the rest is history!.

These are not the regular VizuaLogic headrest monitor these have button on the outside and a built in 2ch Rf transmitter in each of the monitor. They go for $1500 or more for the set.

A couple of month ago the same seller I got my from had a new set of VizuaLogic headrest just like the one I have but for a Lexus GX in the tan color for $850.BIN Those would fit the 4R too if you have tan leather seats..

So check on ebay you will get lucky!

yea you have to modify the empty switch .you will new a dremal with a small sander , couple of Small drill bit, smart Cord direct wire kit, and a glue gun. its really easy just drill the hole for the led and the button and gut the back said of the switch so the pc board on the smartcord will fit it their. I use a hot glue gun to hole the pc board in their then pill of the sticker and slap in on top of the switch. do do that first b4 your drill the hole for the button and light then I wired the power to the cig lighter wirer.the hard part is running the wire front the top across down the piller and down to that area.
