Pillar mirrors

Just bought a 2013 4Runner with MANY more bells and whistles compared to my 2003 4Runner. One thing I truly miss are those mirrors in the cargo area. They were awesome for checking blind spots when switching lanes. Does anyone know where I can get these???

I've never seen those. I've seen other auxiliary mirrors on SUVs and vans from the international market, but those are seen on the outside. The one in the picture makes a lot of sense.

Backup cam override

Just override the backup cam, it has the same field of view.

I wish it did but it doesn't. The corner mirror could see all the way up and down a row of cars as soon as you backed out just a tad, the camera has a much more narrow view.

I also miss the dual sun shade from my 4th gen and had to get a LE just to get auto climate controls that my 2003 SR5 had (that wasn't the only reason but....) I also liked the trailer hitch better.

That all said, I've adjusted and I love my 5th gen now. :rapture:

So I'm wondering- has anyone custom installed backup mirrors when there is none? I purchased a 4th gen that had 3rd row seats at one time (no more) and have since removed those seat belts which were located where the pillar mirrors would have been.

I'm trying to figure out how I could put some of own up there- any ideas? Are they fisheye mirrors? I'm thinking I could just stick some up but since I don't have any 4runners to compare too I'm not sure the placement/type of mirror/size to search for?

I use those mirrors all the time! You should be able to pick some up at the dealer or a salvage yard. Also check eBay or Amazon.

Cargo mirrors - SOLVED!

I also really grew to like those cargo area mirrors on my 2003 4Runner. Had it for 14 years and got a 2018 one, and immediately missed the mirrors, even with the new backup camera, which does not allow you to see down the lane in a parking lot when you're trying to back out of a stall. The cargo area mirrors did, allowing you to see both oncoming cars as well as pedestrians before you backed out.

So for over two years I've been trying to figure out how to get similar mirrors back, and just worked it out. I bought these cell phone car mounting brackets that you can adjust to any angle, added standard 3" blind spot mirrors on the brackets, and ta daaaa! I can see down the lane again!

I decided to drill the trim back by the rear window for small bolts and split washers to hold the bracket on there - the surface is a bit curved and real slick so I didn't trust the double-stick tape. Tons of room by the rear window, too - the mirror is nowhere close to hitting the rear window. I pulled the 4Runner's trim off with a plastic trim pry bar (that came with my dash cam) and inserted the bolts from the inside of the trim to the outside so the end of the bolts wouldn't be rubbing on the wires in there. I.E. the bolts are facing out.

Hope that helps someone else who wants those mirrors back.
