Pinch weld mod

After upsizing from a 33" to 34", Im having to do this mod wanted to see how people are doing it. I've read thru posts that there were instances when they would be hammering and pop the seam open. This is what I want to avoid. I ran to a t4r owner and recommended me a fab shop who does this regularly. Called the shop and they do a BMC and pinch weld package for $475. I thought that was a steep price but honestly they do really a good job. I already did a BMC but will need to do this mod, any suggestions and tips would be helpful.

I just hammered mine. I tried to be careful and not pop the weld but to make me feel better I smeared some sealant on it after I did it. I haven't noticed any leaks.... well from there, lol

I just had a reputable toyota offroad shop do it in socal. Didn't want to mess with it. I paid < $300 though.

I cut mine every inch or so to make the seam easier to fold flat, and used i think a 5lb sledge. Super easy; hammering took a minute or less.

The I covered the seam in 3M urethane

And then sprayed it all black

i was going to try and refrain from cutting mine as that would be bare metal that i have to seal/paint + being in a salt environment...

I talked to some guys they take a vice grips and begin the bend and then like everyone said a BFH to move the majority of it....

I was going to try and use a heat gun and heat the area up to help bend (much like guys do with rolling fenders to prevent paint cracking). Figured probably cant hurt...

Yes, I trimmed as much as I could

I do have some pics, but I'm still not done with that area. Full flex off-road requires just a little more.

Beat the crap out of it. Also, be sure to apply liberal use of a 5# sledge to beat in the back of the fender well in as well. Use black RTV sealant on the seams and spray with 3M rubberized liner. At some point, you'll need to take about an inch out of the fender edge and flares, depending on if you do any real wheeling.

My advice is get a bmc and pinch weld done at same time if u paying someone to do it then you can jump to 34s if u so choose
