Pink Milkshake and the 2.7L

I hate to start another pink milkshake thread, but I've searched for what I feel is extensively without definitive answer. I just bought a '99 4WD 2.7L AT and I saw two posts in two different threads stating that the pink milkshake only happens with the 4WD 3.4L AT combination and not with the 2.7L. Is this accurate or just speculation? I'd like to do either a new radiator or trans cooler as added insurance, but if it's not necessary with my model then I obviously don't want to spend the cash.

With any auto, a tranny cooler is added insurance.

If you look under the rig and follow the tranny lines, see if they go into the bottom of the rad.

I know on my old '99 Tacoma 2wd they did.

Put the tranny cooler in there to be safe. Not gonna hurt anything.

I replaced my radiator with an OEM Toyota one at about 160K miles, just for insurance. Even if you add a transmission cooler, you still have an old radiator, just one that doesn't have transmission fluid running through it anymore.

I would recommend replacing the radiator with a Koyo; it's cheaper than the OEM Toyota one, and the OEM ones are now made in Mexico instead of Japan, so I am a bit leery of the quality, though mine still seems to be top notch.
