Pinstripe delete questions

Who all has done this? I've searched and found pretty much heat+goo gone+fingernails and then ran upon a yotatech write up that seems way too easy:

Anybody tried this method? I'm just worried its going to burn the paint.

Just removed mine the same way last week. Tried Goo Gone stuff but after almost 10 years that stuff just won't cut it. It's safe don't worry. Did it on my 2011 duramax too for the first time and nothing bad happened.

I have personally used these many time when I worked at the local GM body shop. They work great and would take a lot of force and staying in one spot to burn the paint. Final clean up can be as simple as wiping off residue with a dry rag or a little acetone to get off old gooey residue.

great. thanks for the replies fellas.

Now, how will I make the paint come close to matching since I'm sure there will be a darker line where they are now that is protected from fade a little more.

The dark line isn't a huge deal to me. but curious if I can make it better.

I didn't want to wait for the eraser to get shipped so I used heat to take off the plastic. The adhesive is the pit. Best thing I found to get it off was soak ahead with WD40 and then rub it off with paper towel. Friction is what removed it. This worked but I'll never do it again that way. Get the eraser! Will save you HOURS.

The darker paint under the stripes was fairly obvous until I polished and waxed. That was last fall and now you can't see it at all.
