Pioneer 3100 vs. JVC AVX720

Just got my Runner a couple of weeks ago and fairly new to site. Bought a 97 SR5 4WD and it's got a tape deck. So... gotta get rid of that and get a system. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on the Pioneer 3100 or the JVC AVX720 and also on some components that would go well with it. Thanks in advanced for the feedback.

I've got a pioneer headunit and i love it - i've heard nothing but good things about the 3100... they both look sweet though!

as for comps, i think they are 6.5s in the front and rear doors? maybe im way off... but im about to install alpine type s comps, my friend has them and his car and they sound great... need to be powered by an amp to serve them justice though!
 
Only flaw of the 3100 is the USB/iPod port is located right on the front of the unit, which looks messy, but besides that the 3100 is legit!
 
I got the 3100 installed fairly easily in my 2nd gen and it's butter.
I have enjoyed watching DVDs on it a ton while waiting for things and the touch screen is great to get used to.
It's got some good power, especially if you're just using stock speakers, but I'm running polk audio and it's decent for not having an amp.

The USB can slide closed and my passengers have never really noticed it.
Looking back, I may get the 4100, just for the bigger screen. The buttons and color capabilities are really great in the 3100 though.

I'll try and get a picture on the thread tomorrow.
 
I got 3100 over 4100 because it mounts flash in opening where 4100 with its motorised screen needs to stick out some. Here is final product:



 
I was actually debating whether to get the 3100 or the 4100 at a car stereo shop yesterday. The only flaws I noticed are the smaller screen on the 3100 and the USB port, but I'd hate to get it and regret it later. I tried negotiating with the dude for the 4100 cause he wanted $700 for it! I said heckkkkk nooo and showed him some printouts of the same model on Amazon for $400. Ended up leaving empty handed but I am really about to pull the plug and just get the 4100 on Amazon... any last minute things I should know about it before I purchase?

Congrats. If you want to keep AM radio you'll need an 2 in 1 adapter (I just kept FM). Post finished job pics.

And no need for AM, don't really listen to the radio, anyways.
 
Forgot to update the thread, the install was a success! Took it to shop to do because I know I won't be able to do it right, lol. Also had the DVD parking brake bypass which is pretty sweet.
But one major flaw for me is the sound from the videos on my iPod are about half a second off.. otherwise it's a very great head unit. DVDs look great and iPod controls are pretty cool too.
