i'm in too man! :thumb3: where you going to pick your up? i'm probably going to just go to car toys in lynnwood but am definitely open to suggestions if you have a better place. i'll be needing to get it installed too...you?

I'm going to have to check it out first and make sure the interface is not buggy. But if its around $500 and works I will prob pick it up online if the price beats car toys.

A few weeks back I was shopping around for the AVIC-X930BT and went to the Lynnwood car toys to try it out. Nice unit, but I read on autoblog that pioneer was going to be making this iphone app unit so i waited.

I will be doing the install myself. You should try to do the same!

That is amazingly cool! I would hope it works with a 3GS as well as the Iphone 4, but this might be in my future as well. I have to assume it would come with a mic for bluetooth calling, but don't see any mention of it in the article.

Pioneer just released the AppRadio2, and added the appradio functionality to several of the DVD player head units as well, with support for CERTAIN andriod phones. Sounds like they worked out a lot of the bugs from the original, check out the new offerings. The original AppRadio did not support android at all.

I don't really think Android is a very strong platform for music at all. I have used Android phones for over a year now and currently have a Galaxy Nexus as well. The only audio I would use it for is podcasts.

As far as music goes I either burn an MP3-CD or plug in my iPod Touch to my stereo.

Google really has a long way to go before most people will adopt Android as a general music player. They really need to step up their game and develop a standalone (non-web!) multi-platform media player like iTunes.

Just a word of warning, I tried the app radio for 60 days, luckily Crutchfield has a great return policy. My experience with it was not pleasant. The soft ware is buggy, the boot time is slow, the app selection is very limited, the overwhelming amount of warning screens that you have to tap through is just plain annoying. There latest software update version 2.45 made it even worse. Just my opinion feel free to try it out but my advice would be to look elsewhere. I switched to the pioneer avhp4400bh and am much happier.

It looks like that unit would have good support for the iphone, but I'm very curious to see what the 8400 and AppRadio2 "advanced app" interface is like, as I've heard before that the original ApRadio was a big "buggy". The idea is great, I'd love to hear that they got it right in the 2nd iteration.
