Places to offroad in Colorado (March)

My girlfriend and I will be making a trip to Colorado in March and I was wondering what kinds of places would be good to offroad in March. I imagine a lot of places will be snowed in, so I figured I would ask you guys if there is anything scenic and not terribly difficult to do in March.

We will be in Estes Park for a day on Friday March 16th if anyone wants to come try some trails with me. I'm new to this, so I'd prefer not to get stuck by myself haha. Let me know what could be fun! Thanks fellas!

Most of the Colorado trails will either be buried in snow in March or closed due to run off. Not a lot of wheeling opportunities that time of year.

Oh I don't know . . . this winter has been pretty abysmal from a snow perspective . . . while that might usually be the case it's worth a second look. At the rate we're going now it could be bone dry then. :ybrick:

Of course, this is Colorado so we could also be buried under record snow drifts by then. As we always say around here - if you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes - it will change.

Its been the same down here for the most part. But I would never recommend someone plan a March trip to CO around wheeling. Just two unpredictable. Even if some of the trails are passable most likely it would not be very responsible to do so.

However lower trails may be in good shape by then. Or dryer areas like Grand Junction might be worth looking at. Personally I don't know the Estes area that well for wheeling and can't comment on what might be open there. But that is getting pretty high up and will have run off from the divide.

The OP stated not difficult. Maybe the The "Old Fall River Rd" within the park. But I'd bet on that being closed long past March.
