Planning a road trip

I just started planning an 8 day road trip. Me and the fiance will depart Savannah on August 3rd and from there pick up my dad at the airport in Atlanta. We want to head north from Atlanta into North Georgia and Tennessee but have no idea where to go. I'm open to going into Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, NC or really anywhere within reasonable driving distance. Not really sure where to visit in Tennessee or the bordering states. I always see awesome pictures on here of adventures people have. Want to show my dad who is about to turn 68 a memorable trip. We plan on camping out along the way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hope everyone has a great 4th of July weekend. #MERICA

The Corvette museum is in southern Kentucky (Bowling Green), and Mammoth Cave is not too far north of there on the same interstate. The Patton Museum is outside of Fort Knox. If he is a NASCAR fan Charlotte is a very worthy place to spend a day or 2.

I second Mammoth Cave National Park. That is really cool and they have some shorter tours since I am not sure how far your dad can hike.

Not really 4Runner related but the Kentucky Bourbon Trail is pretty awesome if you like Bourbon. No need to visit all the distilleries but its a cool experience. Personally I liked Buffalo Trace the best for the tour and campus but Woodford Reserve is beautiful as well.

Awesome! Thanks for the advice. Ill definitely look into it the spots mentioned. My dad is actually in great shape so there are no real limitations. Plan on doing some white water rafting. So far on my on list are Ruby Falls, white water rafting (looking for a location), Smokey Mountains, and mammoth cave. Looking to hit something everyday. If we could get one or two more events it will be a booked trip. Thanks again for all the advice and help.
