plasti dip grill or paint?

I ended up just taping mine off and painting it. The challenge is getting inside the Toyota emblem. I laid masking tape on top of it and used a sharpie to draw the lines... then cut each section out individually. Laid them in there and used a pick to get them seated correctly.

To remove it, just remove the trunk plastic trim 1 bolt at the pull strap, and clips around the edges. Then remove the 10mm bolts that hold it in, as well as the 2 10mm bolts that hold the lock tumbler in. Disconnect the electrical connectors and it comes right out. I found nothing obvious holding that emblem on, which is why I just taped it off. I had planned on pulling the emblem and painting it. I didn't feel like breaking plastic with nothing to replace it with.

I used John Deere blitz black (highly recommend it) ... I used it on the grille and lower valances as well. It has been holding up well to rocks, salt, and washing.here are some pics...

The Toyota emblems as well as the other badges are applied with very thin double sided tape to remove them some have used dental floss, getting the dental floss under the edge and using it like a string saw until you get the emblem freed, reapplying is another matter unless you can find the ultra thin double sided tape which is clear instead of the white foam type which doesn't hold up to weather as well, and doesn't let the emblem fit as tight to the substrate , but I agree it's much easier to just tape it off to refinish the emblems.

Yeah I figured as much and I even have some 1/4" 3m double sides sticky "tape" but decided against it.
