Plasti-Dip Interior. More to come.

It's been a few months now and everything is still holding up just fine...even the door handles. The front grill has suffered a few rock chips, but it's easy enough to fix...just spray on a little bit more plasti-dip!

well you know i did the wheels and they are still holding up perfectly after a month and i've been on gravel roads and stuff. I leave this friday for my utah trip and there will be LOTS of dirt roads and rocks so we will see what happens!
 
Awesome...can't wait to see your pics! I'm chomping at the bit for my upcoming Colorado/Wyoming road trip...but I don't get to leave until the end of the month...

Overall, I've been quite impressed with the durability of plasti-dip. I'll probably end up doing the wheels at some point...

It looks great man. :bravo: I really like the look. How is the smell though? I remember plasti-dip having a distinct smell, although not overly strong, and am thinking that it may be worse after sitting inside a hot, baking interior.

Oh no. There was no scent whatsoever. Maybe first few days when the paint is fresh, but if that. Im in Texas where the interior can get up to over 150 degrees after baking in the sun all day while I'm in school for 8 hours. But when I jump in I don't smell a thing.
 
Door handles from the interior? If so yes. I just haven't had the time to remove them. I tried to but it appears that you have to remove the door panel in order to remove the door handle, and i may do the instrument cluster now you make me think of it! if so I will snap more shots.
 
I did my front grill area early in the year, no problems. How involved is doing the side emblems? Just a steady hand and slice away the excess?

Did my grill and emblems this weekend, emblems are simple, I just taped off a little around them and sprayed, the excess and overspray just peels right off, then use a toothpick or something small and pointy to get it our from inside the letters, worked like a charm!

No sanding or priming necessary. This stuff adheres to any plastic, and is very durable. Sanding it or priming it won't make it any more durable than it already is, since it is a rubber coating.
 
Not too bad on my passenger side emblems. Maybe let it set up a little longer, but most pulled away and under the letters fine. Rainy and cold here, but looks like it dried fine. Driver's side tomorrow.
 
if you check out my build you can see my interior, i used an air brush and did it blue and some purple/blue mixes. However i dont have the airbrush anymore and i am soon going to re do the inside with a emerald or jade green! Oh and the holdup is 100% perfect in my car, just need a change. My question is what spray should i use and what clear coat should i use? Im not going to be using plasti dip. I want a glossy/shiny finished product and not flat! Any suggestions?
 
Thought I would bump this thread as I am wanting to paint some if not all my silver trim pieces since they are getting scratched and look cheap. Anybody done anything different other than plasti-dip? different colors?
 
i just did my grill not too long ago... going to do all the badges and back center trim piece this weekend. this stuff seems to be holding up pretty well so far!

I did a lot of accent pieces in my acura with Krylon Fusion for Plastics, I did them satin black and absolutely love the 2 toned look. I've been debating on doing more pieces.
 
Looks real good...I was wondering how the dash trim would look dipped. I like it. I dipped the glove box and under the steering column to get rid of that two tone look and love it. After seeing your pics I think I'm gonna do the trim and maybe around the shifter this weekend when I do my wheels. good stuff man
