I can understand if you're one of those weird people who hate chrome. It should only be used temporarily on something like bumpers & emblems until you sand & paint them the right way. Or save up to buy aftermarket bumpers & Black Pearl emblems. It's good as a temporary fix if you have a sun baked rear licence plate bezel until you paint or replace it. (With SEM Black trim paint! :wave:)

I would think it would be all scratched up by the time you get it back together. Interior panels take a lot of more abuse that one would think. I think the only way you are going to get decent results is by using an interior paint or dye.
I was going to do my interior all back with some red accents, as I also dig the look. But after doing some research and figuring out what all it would take to do it right I bailed as it seemed like too much work. I also take my runner off-road a lot and was worried in the end it would end up scratching and looking like poop.
I already have scratching on the interior panels from dirt getting in between the panels (like on between the driver door and dash). I would guess this would take off interior paint/dye and take off plasti dip quickly.
 
so here is the trim panels reinstalled. I really love the look even without the rest of the dash black yet. i know my car is a mess right now. I'm doing some work in the engine and my interior is a mess with car parts and garbage

anyways I really like it so far.

In my opinion, that's pretty ugly. That being said, if you want the paint to last, I'd suggest duplicolor fabric and vinyl paint. I painted my fake wood trim pieces black and they still look great 2 years later. You can't even tell they're painted. That being said, I don't know if I'd use the good stuff if you're going to do it red. The ugly would be permanent! :doh:
 
I like YOUR interior. Only problem with this thread is you said "let me know what you think...." you like it, roll with it, it's your rig
 
I'm just amazed that you did this BEFORE cleaning that interior. That would bug the hell out of me. Install painted parts in a dirty interior.
 
Despite all the negative comments, you maintain a sense of optimism and pride in your responses while completely ignoring the haters:yell:. Good job. I like the idea of a red and black interior and I like the direction you're going in. Personally i would have chosen a slight darker shade of red, almost like a crimson and then i would want a nice gloss like finish. Also a black dashboard would look great with maybe some nice red accents placed in strategic places. i always admired the color scheme of the red and black beats headphones. At the end of the day you are the one who has to drive it everyday. Do what you think looks good and dont be afraid to experiment. Worst case scenario you either repaint it or buy some used junkyard trim and try again. Keep the pictures coming.:hatsoff:
 
With black carpet and liner will look killer, black dash cover too. I congratulate you on your experiment, roll with it awhile and see how you feel. I agree with the others who question how well it will hold up, but keep us in the loop.

thanks :) I've noticed something about myself; when ever I ask for opinions from people, I've already made up my mind; and very rarely do I let others opinions change my mind; but I still like to know what others are thinking.

will update again when I get the seat covers on
 
detailed my engine bay and then hit it with some "Trim Shine" that I saw someone else using in a different thread on here. shout out to you, whoever you are! that stuff is awesome. did my whole engine bay and the trim around my windows and the emblem on my grill with just 1 can. and I used A LOT.

also, I plasti-dipped the middle of my hood. I kinda just did a really fast job on a windy day and it doesn't look as good as it could so I'm going to peel it and do a much better job of it the next time. I think it looks really cool.

I'm weary of products like this, and Armor All. I've found them to dry plastics and vinyls to the point where you NEED to use the product for ever more to keep them from drying out.
What's the long term with Trim and Shine.
