Plasti Dip Side Mirrors?

Hey guys,

I would just like to start off in saying I know nothing about Plasti Dip other than the fact that many people have had good results in painting their rims, grilles, badging, etc. I think I am looking to do the same to my side mirrors as they are very scratched up from off roading and a big scrape on one indicates that the previous owner hit their garage or something. Anyway...would this work? And if i were to try, what would the best way to go about this? I did search and found no threads about painting the side mirrors. :thanks:

If it was me, i would try to figure out how to take the side mirrors off cause it would be a lot easier than trying to tape off newspaper and everything all around it, i have never heard of anyone doing this but i dont see why it wont work, and if that gash you were talking about is kind of deep there will still be a crevice where is it but you wont really be able to tell cause it will all be black. Let me know how it turns out and post pictures cause im sure other people have thought about it.

i think im just gonna try my best to cover up the surrounding area. i purchased two cans today at Lowe's. And it is pretty much just a scrape on the one mirror; not too deep. Ill get some before and after pics up

I would take the mirrors off. Once you pull off the door panel it's only 3 10pm nuts.
I've actually wanted to use rhinoliner on my mirrors. They've gotten really beat up offroading.

i did one side already and it looks great! im going to do the passenger side tomorrow morning. ive got a ton of pics right now and when its all done i will post them up and write up everything i did. it was very easy and all i did was cover everything up using newspaper, cardboard, and painter's tape. after finishing up one side, i definitely recommend doing this as it is very easy and the mirrors look brand new, especially compared to all the scratches from wheeling in the woods

I know that Ive thought about it, a few times, lol but never have a can in the garage.

I also know that LaBra (IIRC) makes a bra thing for the mirrors od the 3rd gens, not sure if they make them for the 4th gens.

yea i was looking up that clear plastic thing that protects them, it was over $100 for that. And plus, that won't really hide the scratches on the mirrors. I bought two cans but it looks like i may not even need to open the second can:thumb3: I might get the protective film stuff if i find it cheaper once the mirrors are done.

I would recommend that you add a few coats of a matte-clear. I did that to my Plasti-Dipped grille parts and it really seems to make it more durable.
