I've dipped my runner twice, so I'm also the one with the red 4Runner. I love the stuff because I don't worry about pinstripes and its easy to maintain. NYC-Runner wheels more and can also vouch for how durable the dip is. Here are some pics of our rides dipped.

What did it cost to do the whole thing and how many coats? I know it's cheaper than rhino liner and I'm starting to consider the next option since I screwed my roof up with a loose hilift.
I noticed you are in CA, laws are different so you have to buy a different kit. I just checked and 5 gallons with the sprayer will run you ~525. I did like 6-8 coats each time. The good thing is you don't have to buy the spray kit again and afterwards if you redip it it should only be around 350.
I suggest sticking to solid colors, because if you mess up and get bubbles (from not fully drying) or it rips you can always touch it up easily.

I think the rhinoliner is about the same, close to 500-600 from what I've seen. Definitely cheaper than a paint job either way. I always expected to do some sort of coating eventually, especially after the 4th or 5th bush I ran through, haha. I get tired of buffing/waxing them out, I'd rather have something durable.

Check out dip you car . com. And check out their YouTube account too. Great instructions and videos. They pressure wash them too and claim very durable WITH PRORPER PREP and maintenance.
Lots of crazy color scheme and even color changing pearls in there. I've only ever dipped wheels but it came out great. I helped my buddy today actually dip his Tahoe's from chrome bumper white to match, like the Denalis.
It's quality stuff -- just focus mainly on a good prep.

Actually did it with mine, i used rattle can but it takes practice to not get lines on big areas if you where in the pittsburgh area id gladly do it for you

I've literally bounced my truck off tree and this stuff holds up fine as long as it's applied right! I've also seen a buddy of mine do the same with his FJ more than once and it's stayed on strong!

That stuff looks great. I've heard of it and when I saw this post of a person wanting to do their whole care my initial thought was WTF 
But seeing it peel off, and how durable it was makes a lot of sense - relatively inexpensive way of changing the look and protecting the paint - all without making it permanent.
I plan to do my wheels, and I may do the front of the hood - it has a lot of small chips from road debris. Thinking maybe black (white 4Runner) somewhat akin to a bra.

nice!
i'm debating what color to go with. maybe a dark grey with glossifier. my 4r is the galactic gray. id want to do the lower plastic molding on the doors too but the paint is holding up pretty good on those parts. its mostly the fender flares/molds.
o wait, did you do your bumpers and lower door molding too? hard to tell since its all black
