Sweet, id try just the flares in black if i were you, if you dont like you could peel and go grey all around. But key is lots and lots of coats or youll regret it lol. I did 7 couts all around took me about ten cans walmart price matches to this pic

i'll give it a try. i guess thats the beauty of dip. u can try it and peel it off if u dont like it. i'll try a single coat of black at first to see if i like the color

Sweet man, and id do two coats (first coats is supposed to be 50% tranparent
Also a great tip is put the cans in hot water for five minutes before spraying its a life saver and makes a world of difference, i know from many mess ups lol. Good luck

Just a thought. I have dipped my wheels for years and then rattle canned over the dip to get the colors I want. The spray makes the dip hold just like paint. Essentially it is just painted, but can be removed.
I guess what I am trying to say is. Dip your ride black, then rattle to whatever color you wish. The rattle sprays perfectly even on the dip. Never noticed, run or lighter/thicker spray. Then you can wash and rerattle to another color and still be able to remove later.

Plastidip was the first budget friendly mod I did on my imports. Rims. Badges. Grilles. It's the gateway drug to ricer mods.
The stuff will peel off easily if you applied enough coats (3-4+). Any less it it comes off in pieces. I've seen wd40 and goo gone work good to remove dip. Spray it on, lake it sit/bake for a bit, then start rubbing off.
As for using dip as a base layer for spray paint, I'd be cautious. Some of the chemical formulations don't mix too well. It might make the dip go hard and make the removal process later on a pain.
Check dipyourcar.com and their youtube site for tutorials and ideas. They are going pretty nuts right now with what you can do with it.

I have prob 75,000 miles and 6 years or so experience with plasti dip and spray paint, removed 3 times to change colors or get new tires. Also helped some friends do the same, never had an issue. Messier to take off due to paint flaking, but peels off just same. Have used a pressure washer to help.
I ended up doing my front end on my 05 sport I've had for about two weeks now. Definitely going to be doing the hood scoop, emblems and the rims in black. I'm also trying to do that rear rectangular panel around the logo in black with logo in red again. Is there anyway to pull that whole rectangular piece off with the logo emblem?
Sorry I didn't go just black like everyone else and their grandma.... You may not like it but I do and I've had great feedback so far. I would really like to go matte forest green all over but that's gonna be a ways down the road. Want to get my suspension worked out before then. So guessing no luck on removing the rear logo and rectangular piece behind it?

I have a friend who dipped his Sprinter about three years ago. He doesn't wheel it like we do our 4Runners, but he does do stuff that you shouldn't do with a Sprinter. He also lives in Colorado and drives it year round for work and for fun. He dipped his white Sprinter in a matte green and it still looks great and has held up remarkably well.
