Played with Plasti Dip with my Runner

Hi Guys,

Waited for my White TE for 3 weeks after I ordered it and played with Plasti Dip over the weekend. I am happy how it turns out even though I didn't have a prefect job done. It's my first time with the Plasti Dip and I am really impressed for this product. Enjoy!

Very nice!!!!!! What is the prep work involved (Sanding with 500 grit? Ive always taken my cars to a body shop and had the chrome painted, which was always at least $1,000. I would love to be able to do this myself and save some money (Never used Plasti Dip)

i have done a bit of plastidip, never used sandpaper. thats the big benefit of it. sticks to almost anything, and when you're sick of it, you just peel it off...

Did you remove the rear trim piece on the tailgate, or just tape it off like you did the front?

I think it makes it look like a storm trooper helmet. I really like Star Wars, so I am trying to figure out if it's a good thing or not.

Thanks guy. The process is really easy except to remove the front bumper piece. There is 13 clips inside the bumper in order to remove it. I would just tape and paint it if I need to do it again. That's what I do for the rear bumper piece, much much easier. There is no sanding needed and so much easy to remove, just make sure you have 3 or more layers applied.

The top grill is really easy to remove. Just two 10mm screw and one plastic nut holding it. After removed screw and nut, you can just pull it away the bumper by standing in front of the car. The tricky part to to define the edge of the line to put the tape and you need to apply a thick layer of plasti dip and remove the tape before it's dry. See the vids below for details.

I'm wanting to do at least the emblems and rims. I'm having someone else do it because I don't trust myself. Still debating on the front piece of bumper.

Looks good man, I did the same with mine some time ago. Did you check out the white plastidip for your emblems on the back, it is almost a perfect match. I wrote a pretty extensive write up on my project with some tips and tricks I learned during the process.

Thanks EasyAndy, that looks cool. I may try that sometime when I want to have something different. That's the good thing about the Dip. Easy remove and apply.

Yeah, they are still holding good however some rock chips hit here and there as expected in the front, makes the dip gone where it hit. So, I repainted it two months ago and apply thicker layer this time.

Oh please sir do not use sandpaper or never sandpaper your vehicle when plasti dip. All it need is good old cleaning and rubbing alcohol (optional).
