I was cleaning the throttle body and noticed this. Should there be something connected to it? What is it? Thanks in Advance ['04 v8 sport edition 4x4].

Oh yah that reminds me, I was suppose to start a thread asking what that is hahaha. My 03 V8 has the same thing. I assume, if it's not to be connected to something on the 4runner that it is there for when the engine is used in different applications (Tundra, Sequoia etc.) but you would at least think they would cap it. I don't know.

It's a water line that runs coolant into a fitting at the bottom of the throttle body. Keeps the throttle body from icing in colder climates. 2008 V8 Sport Edition 4x4

Are you sure? If so, why doesn't it leak coolant unplugged as is? The other reason I question that is because if you look inside it you can see pins that look to be for a plug as if it is a temp probe or something.

Looks like the temp sender for the gauge, strangely on the 4Runners and Land Cruiser they are not used, the PCM sends the temp reading. IIRC the Tundras do use it.

Well, it has the word "water" embossed on the hose, the factory service manual for 2003-2009 4runner refers to it as a water by-pass hose and the Haynes repair manual refers to it as a "coolant hose" on page 12-4. So I feel pretty confident the pic I posted of my 2008 V8 is a water hose. It could be that they only utilized it in certain regions or yours might have been removed during service at some point and plugged. But that's pure speculation on my part.
