ya'll need to lighten up peeps. i mean if you guys really read the first post, he specifically states that it was a mistake (something we all do) and tells us that he'll never do it again.

there's really no need to go into a craze for nothing. I would agree with Faeylyn that yes it was not acceptible but you must all realize that he did fess up to what he's done. Not alot of people (esp guys... damn egos) can say this...

So let's all lighten up as I'm confident it won't happen again.

Now back to the undercarriage issue at hand (pss... time to shell out some $$ for a skid plate)

Hey all,

I work in an emergency department and I've seen my fair share of trauma. It's amazing how much the body can truly take or rather how absolutely destroyed it can be before we attempt to rebuild it.

We have a saying about trauma:

1. It's Genetic - idiots breed idiots

2. It's Chronic - if this event didn't get ya, you'll be back

3. It's always associated with alcohol - not always the most injured but somewhere, somehow, somebody was throwing a few back.

This holds true for cars, trucks, atv's, firearms, boating, playing with rattlesnakes, skiing, putting up Christmas trees, frying turkeys, plowing snow, dancing at the club, or walking down the street. I've seen all of these associated with bad "accidents" in people who were ripped and "just a little ripped".

Drinking and then driving is a choice. National blood alcohol levels for driving are 0.08. Just remember your reflexes and decision making capacity is hindered at 0.05. For those of you looking for signs of intoxication. Slurred speech at 0.125. Unstable walking...about the same. You can' t watch for the signs. If you got them, your pretty loaded. If you don't you still may not be legal and even if you are...find a friend to drive for the night before you start drinking.

Ok---I little response from a cop!

First, yes drinking and driving is dumb, and down in VA you CAN and WILL be tried for DUI even if you are on private property (aka-parking lot). The other offenses that can be charged on private property is hit & run and reckless driving.

Second, I have seen some horrible accidents caused by drinking and driving (aka-fatalities), he is lucky to not have killed or injured anyone. I think we ALL should be thankful for that.

Third, I too have driven drunk in the past, and it too resulted in property damage (aka-stupid college night). It scared me so much that I stopped drinking all together for about a year.

Fourth, 3 of my VERY VERY good friends were killed in a DUI accident. If anyone should be pissed here is should be me, ESPECIALLY while being a cop. But I look at it like this, he is lucky, and I too beleive that he got what he deserves. But it is done, you cant go back, and "justice" was served. So from that, I hope you didnt cause servere damage. Just take it as a lesson learned---no ill will from me!

Fifth, it is done, over with, now lets get back to the topic at hand--THE FREAKIN DAMAGE!

If it's personal I don't think it is ever over. My first wife and 17 month old son were killed by a drunk driver. I don't like to hear anyone make light of DUI. I hope it never happens to someone you love.

My god Im sorry to hear of this Pitbull.

faeylyn & others who were offended by my mistake, I again apologize from the bottom of my heart, it was a very dumb mistake and I already have made a personal decision to never make this mistake again.

I think my car getting scrapped up was a warning from higher powers to not do this and toyota being a great car saved the damages.

I hold nothing against those critizing my mistake, I just hope I am not judged and branded for telling one time experience real life account of what happened to me and my truck.

Again I'd like to say sorry and by reading alot of the posts, I think this board is full of knowledgeable and good folk and hope that I can contribute and add to this board in the future.

Out of my HS graduating class of 365, we've had 23 die for various reasons. 14 of them were killed by drunk drivers in separate accidents around the country. A few of them were very close friends from the 1st grade and I knew all 23 of them. Does it piss me off, damn right it does and has for years.

V84RunnerSport has guts and I respect his honesty. I'm certainly not qualified to judge him. If I was on a jury, watch out, but I don't choose to make this forum a courtroom.

I also respect the opinions that others have posted here. There's no right or wrong in them. It's an emotional subject especially if you have suffered a loss yourself.

I guess I personally prefer to bring someone new into the group and lead by example if and when I can.

V84RunnerSport, I hope you stay with us. We really do have a good group of folks here. Drinking and driving is going to be an inflammatory and difficult subject no matter what group of people it comes up around.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. It was a mistake and he had the balls to admit it and come forward without making up some story. Sorry for anyone who has had a loss but he said he was "buzzed" and I am sure if he didn't think he was able to drive he wouldn't. Buzzed can simply mean he drank a little and was tired or that he was "buzzed".

No lights, no loss of power and everything feeling the same is a good sign. I am sure by now you crawled under there with a flashlight and checked it all out.... I hope everything is ok and you at least learned your lesson about "Mall Wheeling" LOL.
