Can anyone point me in the direction of where the thread that spoke of poor reception AFTER replacing the stock JBL deck with an aftermarket deck?

I remember reading something about a "Y" adapter or something like that.

The big problem with poor reception is that the antenna has an amplifier that you need to provide power to. If you don't do that your reception will be horrible.

Typically people wire up the blue wire (usually labeled aftermarket power/power antenna) from the aftermarket radio harness to Toyota harness.

Here's the thread you were asking about but I asked my engineer father (who has a patent or two in antenna design) about using a Y adapter. He thought that it could actually make reception worse because the broadcast would be received by the antennas at slightly different times and be out of phase - or something like that. At best he thought that without a diversity receiver, you'd notice no difference. A lot of guys in the thread say that it improved reception. I just used one plug in my Kenwood and have not noticed any reception problems.
