Plug and Play Rear Camera Override Dongle

For while off-roading, for when you're parallel parking into a tight space and you're shifting between drive and reverse a lot and want the camera to just stay on, etc

One is for multiple video sources, and is for if you want to run additional cameras. This one isn't available yet. I believe he's waiting for test results.
The other is for just switching the Rear view camera on when you want it. This one is available.
The only other connector available is for the 2013 and prior models, and is a 5 pin connector.

Trying to figure out what will we need to switch between the back and the front camera once the multiple video sources dongle is available. Found this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B155G5M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_OCx7wb0BTE3P6 and it seems to be designed to switch to an active feed automatically. Otherwise, can a single rotary switch mentioned in post #53 be used to both select a feed and send power to it?

Yes I have the 2013 JBL. It's the 5 position dongle. Working on 2012 and 2013 non JBL.

Just wire the two wires to any terminals on a single pole switch. Also yes according to the Factory wiring diagram it should plug into your JBL unit.

Just got my dongle today, and spent this amazing afternoon installing it.
I did hit a hiccup, the first time I put everything all together it didn't work. However after going through everything and checking connections it works.
My only quip is that the dongle connecter didn't "click" in as firmly as I would have hoped. But...it works!!

In goes the dongle!
And it works! Now I just need to wait for an Air On Board switch to arrive. Using a Home Depot one for now.

Awesome, really happy to see this working for you. Thanks for posting up the report. The female end can be a little tight to push into the nav unit it but it will go and fit. It's the pins connection that are snug, not the actual connector.

I don't think I've read it anyplace, but, there is nothing to prevent this mod from working when in Drive or any other gear as far as that's concerned?

Nothing prevents the use of this. It will work whenever the truck is on regardless of gear or anything else.

What are those 2 wires you are holding together?

The two wires are coming from the Dongle, I connected those two to the switch to control the override.
