Plug replacement overdue?

I'd say these should have been replaced about 150K miles ago. Just bought an '05 V6 with 195K miles. These don't look very good. The gap is measuring at .080, about double what it should be. Notice the two different brands of plugs? I've read here that is indicative of how they came from the factory. Engine and cabin air filters were in 'great' shape too. :wow2:

It's the V6 spec'd out for good ol copper plugs rated for 30k if you go by the book.

Lots of "new" owners finding this nugget out .. but its a testament to Toyota and the motor. Still runs with no misfire codes for plugs way out of spec.
 
I'm always amazed at how little people care for their vehicles, especially when it comes to easy stuff like air filters, plugs, etc.
 
I dont know if any one is gonna respond but, I bought my 96 4runner from a guy and it is KILLING ME noticing all the things he has done to this poor thing. He tacky glued the radiator after hitting something and cracking it. He sealed the sun roof shut, did a horrible job welding the exhuast system, theres a switch on my e- brake that's been shaved down... I don't even know what its for.. He glued the air vents. I know this because they fell out yesterday...:help: but it has nice tires...

Sounds like you should of done a better inspection before buying it.

I hope you got a hell of a deal on that thing. sounds like a nightmare

I know this is old but you guys are saying that the stock 04 has different companies making stock plugs. If so, should I replace mine?

I was commenting on how worn out the electrode is on his plugs for not being replaced at the recommended 30k mileage.

OEM plugs have always been NGK and Denso. Toyota gave one side of the block 1 brand, the other side the other brand. It's a great mystery. But either brand works. Just find the right size.

V6s got coppers. V8's got laser iridium's.

Oh okay thanks. I have 50000 on mine and I'm not sure if the guy has replaced them ever. I should probably check lol.
 
Toyota 4runner 4.3 v6...I rebuild the motor and my cell came on at 87 miles throughout break in..I changed the car all new oils wires and plugs I took it had the heads redone valves used to and again approx 40 miles cel on po300 through po306 rapid misfire any help before I scrap this it's a 2 wheel drive.

I believe P0306 is cylinder 6.

Try changing the injector?

And what engine do you have? 3.4?
