If you are even thinking about doing a body lift, i would do that before the sliders.

I also vote radiator. However the transmission cooler may be a viable option if your radiator isn't in bad shape. BigFishAllDay did a great write up on the install that i plan on replicating soon.

If you do the radiator i have heard a mixed bag on the transmission flush. Might want to research that a bit before proceeding with it.

Agreed on the t-stat. Is this the type of part I could just get at Autozone or is it a fussy one that needs to come from Toyota or similar?


As for the transimission, I'm going to hold off on installing an external cooler at this point. The rad needs replacing and I'd rather do a cooler in series (vs bypassing the rad), but don't have the need for it... yet.
I should get it "flushed" and filled though. I don't remember what the specific name for it is, but they have the proper "flushing machine" at my local dealer and I think it's $100 or so to have it done (which is a good deal if I don't have to deal with discarding 5 gallons of nasty oil).

I agree as well, good point. It'll be particularly important considering I want the sliders to act as steps as much as I want them for protection (I want them to stick out further, not super tucked)... if I put them on prior to adding a body lift, they'll look pretty stupid. Hmm... this is a slippery slope.

Maybe if I can find a good welding hook-up, then I can justify buying my body lift now too.

So, I was leaning towards sliders myself, but decided to get the body lift in first and radiator in first... also got some budget-friendly driving lights. Hoping to get that stuff in this weekend.

I think the sliders will have to wait until spring/summer since my biggest seasonal habit is about to hit - SNOWBOARDING - and I need a new deck and jacket. Winter can't come soon enough.
