Isn't the idea behind obamacare to stop this? To get everyone insured so that these "freeloaders" stop draining the ER's of resources. I thought that was why the CBO said that it would save money in the long run. It stops the losses from uninsured people getting emergency care when they finally get so sick that they end up in the ER.

JD, i did not read the whole Obamacare novel. The bottom line is that big and small companies are avoiding paying their employees mandatory health insurance by laying off people and/or pushing them to part-time. I don't know about health insurance for the poor etc.. (Technically speaking, we ALREADY have health insurance for the disabled...called Medicaid.)

I can only speak to you from 1st hand experience as being a full-time doctor in a hospital setting. It is very tough to survive if you're a small hospital and if you're not connected to the bigger city systems. But, like i wrote above, cost cutting is across the board at all hospitals around me, big and small...and yeah, this involves employees being cross-trained. And quite frankly, if an employee does not like it, then he/she gets replaced. These hospitals don't play games. In fact, one of the bigger hospital system around me closed down...St Joseph in Houston Texas. St. Lukes Hospital also changing owners...and they are one of the famous heart hospital in the world!

As much as I am dissatisfied with Obama, I am more dissatisfied with our mainstream news media. We lack a true neutral news source that pursues authentic journalism to hold all sides of the political spectrum accountable.

For television news, we have 5 news networks at varying degrees on the Left, and 1 on the Right. The result is:

- agenda-based journalism
- manufactured outrage
- willful mischaracterizations
- demonization and stereotyping of people via categorical labeling (e.g. rednecks, occupiers, one-percenters) by attributing those labels with derogatory terms (e.g. racist, lazy, greedy)
- constant reinforcing of inaccurate stereotypes
- looking the other way when an elected official who aligns with the news agency's agenda commits an ethics violation, violates the law, etc...
- report news only on one side of a controversy

Here's the big question. If I received funding to start another cable news network and called it NNN (Neutral News Network), and made it my mission to report news in an unbiased fashion, report on both sides of the issues (as opposed to choosing a side and thus misinforming my audience of all of the facts), and avoid using labels outside of accepted labels, would anyone watch my news channel?

I fear I would gain only a small audience because I think that many Americans prefer a news channel that echoes their personal belief system. I think my audience would be even smaller if my news channel started calling out its competitors for factual inaccuracies, ignoring big news stories, and obvious bias.

You're right...I don't mind the wire tapping... I don't mind airport scanners nor police stops to screen for drunks. As for picking up turd, I just use disposable gloves... why would you use your hands?

This is what politics IS. Constant posturing and reposturing depending on the time and place.

There is a thin gray line but WE will never know where that is.

Tap away if it protects us in the long run IMO. I assume they've always been doing it anyway. You have NOTHING if you don't have real information on those out to get you. And yes, there will be inappropriate uses of it along the way....it is what it is.

All presidents lie, but for those who claim Obama as the biggest liar to ever walk into the Oval Office, how did that search for weapons of mass destruction pan out in Iraq? Find them all? Haha or did we just find the oil fields and not one nuke? XD

I feel the only way to "live within your means" is to not buy anything you can't afford.. It's not complicated but seems that it's getting more and more necessary for people to take loans.

The poll showed that 41 percent of surveyed businesses have frozen hiring as a result of the new law. 19 percent, nearly a fifth of all businesses, confessed to laying off staff in order to avoid penalties in the new law.

The Gallup poll, commissioned by the firm Littler Mendelson, surveyed 603 small businesses which have less than $20 million in annual sales. The poll shows how significantly the economic recovery from the 2008 recession has been held back because of the law.

Along with the businesses that have admitted to hiring freezes or downsizing, 38 percent of small business said that they have “pulled back on their plans to grow their business” because of the health care law.

Under ACA, nearly all companies with 50 or more full-time employees will have to either offer health coverage or face a fine of $2,000 per full-timer after the first 30 workers.

In addition to restricting hiring or cutting jobs, small companies are considering other ways to mitigate the expected financial fallout. Twenty-four percent are weighing whether to drop insurance coverage, while 18 percent have "reduced the hours of employees to part-time" in anticipation of the ACA's effects, the poll found.
