Poll: V8 owners only - Do you spit pieces of rubber all over V6 SUV's?

No biggie, most hondas with spud launcher tail pipes don't know I have it either, until I blow their doors off. LOL! No, I don't think I could touch the new one thats coming out. I haven't had my 4runner on an AWD chassis dyno yet, but I plan on it. TRD claims 125hp and 100 ft lbs of torque over the stock V8.

Of course my truck took a Mustang Gt door to door, and I had 2 clicks left on my Six-Gun. Let's just say all it took was two clicks to get him pretty upset. I would be upset two if I was taking my girlfriend for a ride in my new muscle car and an 8500lb. truck just blew my doors off!

Yeah,those diesels are pretty quick for a 4 ton truck which I missed in his sig.

I was beaten by a couple of mega boosted ones in my Eclipse.

Are you refering to the V8 supercharger? The TRD system will only work on non vvti engines and it's dis continued, so it's hard to come by these days. Someone on here is working on a bolt on cintrifugal system that they are running on a vvti 4th gen. Supposedly they are close to marketing it as a complete kit.

What's the best quarter mile times posted for each ? I did a search and nothing.

I don't think the V-8 is that much faster , I have had my truck since late 04 and have run up against a lot of others and none spit rubber on mine.

I plan to run mine at the track to get a idea. good or bad Maybe I got a good one but this thing feels like it runs great.
I ran (on ramp racing) a 6.0 hummer , many 5.3 gm , 5.4 ford, any jeep,(not srt hemi). and beat them all no contest.

I ran more than one V-8 4runner over last 4 years and Every Single person was very ,very surprised (and not happy) at the results.

Was thinking of getting a 2009 V-8 sport in case it's the last year

0-60 time, the V8 is a few tenths or a second quicker.

you haven't toyed with a Hemi Jeep GC then. i know for fact it would give your V6 more than a run for the money big time. i went head-to-head at a stop light with a Hemi GC w/ my V8 T4R and he was definitely quicker.

the SRT is a completely different beast.

perhaps if you used proper grammar, in this case a comma to separate Hemi and SRT, there wouldn't have been the misunderstanding

unless you truly don't know that there are differences: 5.7L V8 = Hemi (Overland + Limited models) // 6.1L V8 = Hemi SRT (SRT-8 model), then you're excused.

we've had 'good luck' with the two GC's we've had/have. both were/are the 6's though. nothing more than routine maintenance.

i've had friends who've had the V8s (pre-Hemi's) + Hemi's and they've had nothing but trouble... brakes, trans, engine, etc. the SRT-8 isn't any better and is more $$$.

No hate here for my V6 brethren.

There was no convincing me of buying a V6 when I was shopping for my 4runner last summer, then I drove one with the V6. That gave me serious second thoughts because the V6 preformed so well. I still ended up going with the V8 for the low-end torque and few extra ponies driving up in the mountains here in CO, but I'm sure the V6 would have worked just fine for me.

As for Jeeps, I've owned two. A '97 with the straight 6 and a '00 with the 4.7 V8. Owned both of them 'til ~90k. Didn't have engine problems with either, and the 4.7 was actually a great motor IMO. It was everything else that nickel and dimed me....leaky diffs, xfer case, brake problems, constant alignment issues, etc. That's why I went with a Toyota this time around and couldn't be happier.

haha, my DD in high school was a '94 grand cherokee with a 5.2L MPI engine. never had any problems til my sister started driving it, since then, all engine mounts have broken, needed a new radiator, A/C is inop and the list goes on. I think my parents have put 10K+ into that car and it's only worth 3k at best

I'm all about the V8's, it's what i'm use to. But to me, a Runner is a Runner so i'm not hating. One of my best friends own a 05 with a V6 and it has some get up'n go. And dodge is crap. Hopefully the new challenger though does good.
