Poor FM Reception! Ant Amp Connected...

Hi guys, I know there are several posts about Diversity Antenna, Power the Antenna amp, Y adapters, etc.

I have tried all I can, the power on the Antenna Amp comes from ACC Yellow wire to the black wire (Directly to power the ANT AMP) and gives 12.54 Volts, test in the AMP wires on the rear Pillar Window, and we have 3 black wires, one little who have the same 12.54 Volts, and other two without power (I don't know if this is wrong or is working as designed or are ground) Also the wires on the side Windows seems to be fine, tested with a multimeter, cleaning the two jacks on the window Black/White.

Also test using an old antenna just connected to the back of the radio and still exactly the same poor reception, is the same with the factory antenna with AMP connected, without amp and one old antenna used just for test.

I have the Metra Y adapter with the two plugs in, remove it and leave the little connector out with tape and nothing change.

-Is there any way I can test or get a tutorial about how to test the AMP Antenna?
-How can I test the Antenna factory plug is not broken anywhere?

I have another old car with an external antenna broken by accident, and have all stations without problems, I put the same station on both cars at same time and the 4Runner don't get any single sound, just is off in signal, when I drive the stations come on and go out.

I'll gonna be honest that I don't know what else I can do :ybrick:

It may not be the antenna. Your radio could be broken.

Did you have your dash pad replaced or any other work that would involve removal of the passenger B pillar? There is a coax and antenna power cable going up inside it.

Thanks for your reply V8Man, well in the front passenger pillar yes, it have a white plug here, I did a test with a voltage test light and it seems to be good, also did a test at the end, in the rear pillar on the antenna amp location and have 12.50V using the multimeter, but just in one wire, other two doesn't have power, looks like are grounds these wires.

Also with a previous HU was the same problem with reception, was a old Kenwood DDX7015BT, I replaced with a DDX794.

Other old car have a Kenwood too, and works without problems.

Could be the plug that goes at the back of the deck is broken somewhere? Someone knows how can I test this plug? I test using old antenna, but is broken and happen exactly the same as nothing is connected, signal come and goes.

This plug needs power on the tip? I see on both sides have ground, not in other sides, the tip don't have ground nor +12V

antenna plug, middle is the signal, outside is the ground. you say you got a good source of power to the antenna amp.

antenna connection is the same as house coaxial cable, middle feed signal and outer is the shield.

try a different radio station, now a days theres lots of radio interference. also did you get window tinting done? metallic tints do interfere with radio reception.

You need a real antenna. The amp is just raising the noise floor.
Suggest a roof top or fender mount antenna. These laminate window ants aren't really an antenna at all.
