Popped my 3rd gen cherry

After I sold my 89 P/U and searching for months between an 80 or another 4Runner I picked it up last week. One owner 2000 SR5 4X4 Auto, 131K Miles well-maintained. It's never been off road, the undercarriage proves it. Only used 4X4 in CA snow for family Tahoe trips.

The interior needs a thorough cleaning (I've been chipping away at it when I get a free hour here and there) due to it being a family ride with little kids. The outside has some scrapes and scratches, no accidents, the lady just admitted to being a crappy driver and backing into a few things. Overall, nothing worse that what I'm going to do to it.





Since it's my DD, the plan (for now) is to keep it simple with some maintenance and a few small mods (tundra brakes, tranny cooler, etc.). For the most part it'll stay stock for now as the family life and my 85 are keeping me busy:



Although the more I loiter around here the more I contemplate it's true potential... :rockon:

Thanks guys. Yeah, the 3rd gen is my DD while I build the 85. I'm new to the forum world (although long time reader/searcher/lurker) so I haven't started a build thread on it yet. It's in fairly good shape but needs some love. The rear half of the undercarriage has a decent amount of patina on it, but nothing too serious from what I can tell so far. The front half was, well, let's say it was well-lubed. It's virtually rust-free™ :biggrin1:

I'm currently doing the head gasket on it. I'll fire off a thread for it soon.

You may not need to worry about it in your area.......but, I'd crawl under your 4 runner and look real close for rust on the frame.

I bought a 96 SR5 as a puppy hauler. What I thought was mild surface bubble rust ended up being a hole in the frame at the trans cross brace. I expected to do some work since I got it for 2500. But not that type of work.

Yeah it's not bad, Raleigh's fun but I'm actually looking for a place in the country somewhere, i go out to Bragg almost everyday for work.
