OMG the Big Winter Blast of 2016 on the Way
Well Portlandia and SW WA, are you guys ready for the first snow of the season? Supposed to be pretty bad on Thursday with snow and ice. Can't wait to see how many cars are going to be in the ditch. Right there around Exit 11 and the rest area it never thaws out.
Drive smart and be safe out there!! Remember 4 wheel drive doesn't mean 4 wheel stop. Hope I don't see another thread started by any of you about "how I wrecked my 4runner" I'm staying in a hotel on Thursday close to work just to stay off the roads. Too many idiots out there. :smow:

I'll be out shuttling hospital staff to and from work to ensure Legacy Health has their hospitals staffed and operational. Something our SAR team does every year/time the weather freaks people out.

That's really good of you. I know there's folks in the ditches already. I sent my guys home early today and some are just texting me back that they made it. Live in Gresham, Hillsboro, and Tigard and the Couve.
This is awesome!! Keep me posted if you ever need a hand and I'm available. I don't have any com with me, left it at home accidentally. But have skids and small recovery gear. Winch is high on the list. Be safe out there guys.

Ya we closed our stores early and so I had to get everyone out of there before it got too bad. But it's terrible out there.
This was the most intense one - Pulled this guy up from an embankment and then helped him put his chains on.
I put some temporary yellow and white strobe emergency lights on so it worked like a charm warning people of the upcoming danger.

It's good for the money. The kit fit together nicely, it's a whole lot of time welding and grinding though. Definitely wouldn't want a winch in it with how it mounts up, if I did it again I'd make a nice front crossmember and hang it from that.
Just going a different direction with my runner, changing up a few things here and there.

Yeah, it's pretty deep. I was fine as long as I stayed in the tracks of those before me. Anything beyond the existing tracks and I was pretty uncomfortable with the lack of traction. The only other vehicle I saw was another lifted 3rd gen 4runner and the guy driving said his tires were keeping him from going any further. I only went a mile or so past him. If you do explore the roads, I'd recommend bringing a friend or two in case you need a tug. Also, be wary of turning around in the soft snow. That's the fastest way to get stuck.
