is your rig all stock? really the only place is TSF. and by the time you drive home all the road spray will wash you clean...

You also have LaDee flats in the Mt Hood NF. I wouldn't suggest you bring a 100% stock vehicle up there.

Once the snow starts falling there are some good snow runs up near Yale Reservoir by Cougar in SW Washington. Last year we got about 6' of snow up there. I had a hell of a time with open front and rear diffs but I managed to keep up with the guys that were fully locked front and rear. If anyone is interested we could put together a run for us Portland/sw Washington folks

That area usually gets a lot of snow. But there's not much if any snow up there.You'll have to wait tip end of December and into January.

Trying to say no snow up there now? Just had a buddy go up there last weekend sent me a pic of maybe 2ft of snow. Not a lot but enough to play in. Not like larch or silver star haha

I was up at Larch earlier this week and there was no trace of snow. Chalachie Prarie isn't much higher. The snow level is supposed to drop this weekend so there might be a good amount with all this rain that we're predicted to fall.

We usually go a good way past there I don't remember the road names and such but every year the last 7 years we go up around the 7th its a memorial run we do and a Xmas tree run and always hit snow. Larch is the lowest point you can go pretty much you would have better luck at silver star or canyon creek

I would be up for a x-mas tree run on the 8th if you guys go. Keep me posted and I can meet you guys at the general store.

I know the gravel pit at Larch sits at 2000' and the highest point I've driven up to was around 3400'. I haven't checked up near Chelatchie but I can't imagine it much higher. However it is a lot further north.

this sounds like allot of fun! too bad I’m totally stock at the moment (bumpers and all), the best off road "mod" was yanking those stupid worthless running boards off! and of course an 'Old man EMU' 2.5 inch suspension lift.

but i'd still just hold everyone up hopefully soon i'll be more worthy! Have fun gentlemen!

last year i ran no lift up there with guys who had 4-8" of lift and funning 35+" tires and lockers... i only got stuck once, it you stay in the back of the pack the rest of us will pack down the snow for you. if you have a 2.5" lift you should be fine

well i kinda know i wouldn't be totally hosed, but i'm planning on the bumper/ winch upgrade soon, the only deal breaker is my tires (Destination A/T's) they're half worn out, and are suffering from sever traction loss on pavement now, so i could only imagine how bad they'd be in mud/snow. I'll head out sooner or later.... need some confidence in the setup first ya know

If you air down to 7-10psi you should be ok. I wheeled my 4runner completely stock besides 33" all terrains and kept up thru 3' of snow. Learning to wheel being stock will pay off later. You'll also learn not to rely on lockers and such. Just be sure to have a spare tire, tow strap and a bag of tools so your prepared.

I wheeled my stock first gen last year and made it where ever I wanted to go just fine, now I know my 3rd Gen is heavier but I got a locker now lol as soon as i figure out how to post pics from my phone i will post pics from last year.:guitar3:

oh i know how good she is off-road, been up to the headlights in snow, high centered in the sand, and crawling in and around Zion national park over some rocks (not boulders mind you), but going out for PURPOSEFUL off roading makes me nervous.... looks like you guys are pretty damned serious about your off roading. i'll have to see what the next off road meetup looks like it will be all about i guess....
